I would consider investment. I would also be willing to contribute cartography, but there does not seem to be a requirement for that.
As regards investment, my first question would be, is there really growth potential for another small press publisher in the D&D/OGL market?

Right from the start, and I mentioned a couple: Savage Worlds & Hackmaster. (I wasn't real picky about wording in my initial comments, and some have seized upon my lack of rigid specificity as ignorance; it's rather amusing.)


I'll grab this op to mention that we're doing something that's never been done, right from the start: the genesis is open to public contribution. We don't even have a company name yet! The formation of this new gig is open for everyone to observe and comment upon... deliberately so. I do have certain visions and wants, and am sharing some of them; I'd like to hear yours.

Curious questions come to mind...

1. Who is your target buyer?

You need to shift product to make money to keep the venture going. Probably thousands of units a year, that's hundreds of units a month, so a new product every quarter. That's where PPP falls down. Not enough product to shift, and not enough new products to keep a client base.

The 1E/OGL community is not big enough to sustain that type of business, so you open the scope up to any/all games systems? Does that mean yet another 'universal' published system on the market?

2. How will this be different from what everyone else in the current 1E/OGL/OSRIC market is already doing?

Presumably it is the 'difference' that makes all the difference. There are hundreds of small publishers that have gone to the wall oner the past few years, and as PPP have shown, you cannot realistically trade on name alone. It only gets you so far. New Infinities showed that. But certainly I'd imagine most people here will be up for buying the first few products off the press.

3. Where are the creative writers going to come from?

Yes, you can create product, but if you aim to put out a constant regular flow of product, you need a pool of maybe six to eight good quality writers, and the support staff to service them. This is what GG managed to achieve and it gives them a sound base for the business.

I very much doubt republishing the DF stuff and trying to sell it to people will generate any credible revenue. But new works might.

4. Is there anything big planned?

You can only push out small modules, even linked modules, for so long. Sooner or later people tire of the small module publishing house and you need a campaign setting, megadungeon, or major work to anchor your position in the market.

This is where AGP is stumbling at the moment, and opening their doors to contributing authors may free up resources enough to get AGP over that hurdle.

I have the first full printed map for the campaign ... it was printed, and pieced together by Frank for the NTRPGCon (First time the entire map has been seen by anyone)

So we have the "Prepub" copy of the map for Frank's new campaign... we will probably wait to auction it off AFTER he releases the campaign.

I'll try and get a good photo of it some time.

Suggestion for a name.  How about:  New Infinities.

I sent an e-mail off right after you put this up, Frank.  Just seeing if you were able to receive it as I had not heard back.   This sounds like a great venture and I am looking forward to whatever I can contribute.
