And as an aside I think that Fineous Fingers Diorama was a steal at the price

I'm sorry I didn't get to meet up with you guys while I was there. This was mostly a business trip for me as I've increased my freelance work with WotC. Next time I hope I can set some time aside and finally meet you fine folks!

I think I would have gone mad waiting on stuff in that auction. Kudos to those willing to sit through what has been described to get some good deals. Between other things to do at gen con and beanie babies and crap for sale... I really don't think I have the patience for the auction, lol. Some fun stuff sold though! Maybe a few things will come back around sometime, hehe.

The 2009 ACAEUM Dinner:

Martin (Prufrock) on the left and Mordrin on the right (edited because my memory sucks).

left to right - Friend of burntwire bros, Shawn (burntwire) and Martin, again.

Stratochamp (standing), Lawrenson and wife

Left to Right - Jeff's (Blackmoor) and his wife and son, Jeff (Blackmoor), Tim Kask (Kaskoid), Bill (bbarsh), Andy (Invincible Overlord), and ?.

Jeff (Blackmoor) and his wife and son

Left to Right Facing - Jon Hershberger (Tacojon) and his friend (?), left to right facing away is Contrarian and Stratochamp.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

I can confirm that this year's dinner was the first one tacoJohn attended. He seemed to really enjoy the dinner and I believe he told me he would attend next year.

It was a weird auction this year for sure. Winning the statue was a real surprise. There were only two made and the other should still be in the Gygax estate and probably won't make it into the hands of collectors

As to the watch we do have a Wizards of the Coast watch

I'll agree with William - could've been an easy $1500-2000 on the 'Bay and $2500 (per Easley's Tsojcanth ink & the Blanche UK Basic cover) wouldn't have surprised me at all knowing the funds available to a few individuals and the context of the piece.

Strange auction indeed albeit easier to cherry-pick the final results than winning at the prices listed: amongst the scattering of overpriced wins there are a few absurd bargains which I suspect the other winners might not even realise given their other purchases. Hmm... actually maybe that is more like "business as usual", then?

back today

That dragon would have gone for a lot more if it had been sold AFTER the chess set. If I had known how cheap the chess set was going to be, I would have chased that dragon a lot harder

I'm afraid I forgot to take any pics at Indy this year.
