:)   how about if someone likes one, they quote it in their own suggestion as well and give it a few days and we'll probably have several (hundred...)  8)

but in all seriousness, before starting a poll, perhaps we can all suggest one name and give it a few days thought..

edit - cheers Gnat!

If you are serious about the ½ or ¼ print of the PotVQ let me know.

I have permission from Pete to reprint, flesh out, redo PotVQ should the desire and time hit me :)

I almost printed some ½ copies for the NTRPG Con this year, just ran out of time :)

If it is ok then, I'd think a reprint is good. To me that would be worth every bit as much as owning an original.
I just want to read the contents and have a good old looksee and that won't ever happen any other way...

Excellent. So how about a half or quarter size reprint? Would love to see this in a little black folder. Limited quantities or general release doesn't bother me much.

So we have someone with permission to reprint.
I'm up for putting in time and expertise if I can contribute.
It might be good to explore the detail on a separate thread, so as not to hijack this one.

I'll go against the grain on format preference:  I'm all for print; .pdf is nice and handy as an alternative, as well as to archive/search, etc., but I'd really prefer a print newsletter that comes in the mail :D

Other possible newsletter content topics, off the top of my head:

- product reviews (new and old) and previews
- features/essays about specific products:  an essay from Bill about MDG products, for example, would be very cool to read
- updates to site info on products (new printings/variants/details/nuggets)
- the collecting year in review
- recollections and anecdotes from days of yore
- product announcements that would interest the audience (new PotVQ, reprinting Tortured Souls, etc.)
- collecting resources on mold, supplies (archival polybags/sheet protectors, etc.), other places for info, etc.
- tips on better searching on eBay (and off)
- product indexes (perhaps nascent subwebs in the making; perhaps redundant with the wiki?)
- letters to the editor/zine (a la Dragon Rumbles)
- guest editorials/rants/whatever (a la Forum from Dragon)
- bonus inserts in the center:  modules and new rules stuff (but I do agree that it is likely covered more broadly via Knockspell, Fight On!, Footprints, other fora, etc.)

Thoughts?

That would be sweet!
Regardless of whether it is tied in with a POSSIBLE newsletter or not.
I would want to put my hat in the ring, or name in the hat, or whatever is needed to say I want one, or want to be on the short list, or whatever!

As for content of the newsletter...

What about Short adventures, and or perhaps a short fiction story?
yeah I know many E-Zines and nearly every current fan-zine does that, as do all the Magazines ever made for RPGs.
But is there not a very good reason for that?
Those things would bring a much wider interest than just a collectors of the Acaeum interest, or is that all the reason for doing this?

Is there a clear consensus of the intent of this endeavor?
Just for collecting interests, or is there room for RPG fun too?

BTW: I would prefer Print format also, but obviously that would be a big expense causing the format to require payment of some sort from subscribers.
Perhaps any format would though.
However a PDF version would likely be much cheaper and easier (From what I understand) and could be printed out at home.

Perhaps a choice? Or at least electronic .pdf versions only for the European folk to save posting. I guess it depends on US postal costs, printing costs and amount that need to be run off to establish if thats a go over your side.

As for the other points, all nice thoughts. Perhaps rather than putting all the possible articles into one edition, they are spread out bi-quarterly.

i.e Reviews, collecting resources, search tips in Q1 & Q3. Then have product announcements, reminiscing, funny tales from your sessions and Industry folks contributions in Q2 & Q4?

Just as a for instance...  :)

Doug, does that reprint permission extend to the chapbook-sized version that I have?  If so, I can send it to you or Mike to scan.

If we are going to have a newsletter come out on a regular basis we would want to make sure that the second issue was all but done when the first is released. The time in between the first and second issues release is when work needs to be done on the third and so on. Otherwise it becomes impossible to have issues released on a schedule. Something will come up and there will be delays.

Of course it is easier to do a newsletter that has a long time period between issues.

For columns I think we can and should scan through the old recurring postings and see which would fit in the newsletter.

I have done proof reading and editing in the past. Anyone else want to proof read and edit articles? Is there anyone who can put this together as a pdf? (If and when we get a newsletter going?)

I would suggest a digest-sized black foldered loose leaf is in order, for two reasons. Firstly, it clearly defines it as a modern reprint product meant to mimic a specific edition for a reason, and secondly, folder aside, the printing does not require binding.
