IIRC it was actually sold at the Mail Order Hobby Shop, in person, the day it was released....anyone else remember more?

Day it arrived(?) vs. "release date" which was IIRC GenCon - plenty white flyleaf copies to be picked up by the lucky people who were there.

Here is a link to the Jiardini PHB story from EN World.  It is the second post on this page, and EGG comments on it later - basically says he can't remember the incident, but he thought it sounded plausible.

Other than the Letter, Whats all this have to do with the Dragon Issue 147 that is on E-Bay right now?
