I can do this for up to 12 players; my Mayhem Confederacy consists of 15 pre-gen characters from which 12 can be chosen (or less if that happens).
Nor am I sure when this might happen. Could be that Thursday after the dinner might be the time; if we could get the area until midnight....

Well, I am not over 100 years old, so I can't say I know the term originated to describe a certain type of seat sold to a theater-going population, but you may have meant its use on the Howdy Doody Show, which again, I would be unable to say I ever watched since it was long gone by the time I was born. Something like that?

For me, it originated with The Muppets.

A sneak peek, for those of you that will be playing in my adventure in Texas or Indy, of my newest finished project; The Syndicate of Venturers, #1. (formerly known as Confederacy of Mayhem) As the cover says, it is "An insouciant, intrepid, enterprising and rough & tumble congeries of mid-level PC's for use whenever pre-generated PC's or NPC's are needed".
THE ROSTER:
9th Level Human Fighter--CG
8th Level Human Paladin--LG
8th Level Dwarf Fighter--NN
8th Level Human Fighter--NG
9th Level Human Fighter--NN
9th Level Human Cleric--NG
8th Level Human Cleric--LG
8th Level Human Warlock--NN
8th Level Elf Warlock--CG
9th Level Human Thief--CN
9th Level Halfling Thiefâ€”CN
5th Lvl Ftr & 9th Lvl M-U Elf--CG
6th Lvl Ftr & 8th Lvl M-U ½ Elf--LN
8th Lvl Ftr & 6th Lvl Thief Halfling--NG

They all have varying goodies and spellcasters get to pick their spells; each has from a half- to full-page bio. They all have a color stat sheet unique to each.
The bios are there for using as NPC's or hired swordslingers; I don't require players in my adventures to use the bio. I do, however, INSIST that they follow the alignments given. Any 12 (the # of players I can comfortably handle at one time) of these knaves (some can be female with just some pronoun switching) will make up a pretty formidable Old School party.
The next one of these I do will be CE, NE, LE, to be used to clean out "Goody Two-Shoes" adventures like laying waste to the Smurfs or raiding the candy castle or other deed dastardly and reprehensible.
