All we needed was some Lava Lamps and Rush's Caress of Steel playing in the background, and we would have been partying like it was 1975.
Bracton wrote:Tim, you have a standing permanent invitation to the Acaeum dinner at GenCon.I'd be certainly interested in buying a copy of the module, if you make them available. And if you auction a signed copy . . . be warned: I WILL BID TO WIN.

Kaskoid wrote:Start planning now; 12 players, level 6-9 pre-gen "Blanks" (very basic character outlines with stats but without arms, armor, spells, magic, etc.; players fill all that out to personalize) for members of the dinner crew and Acaeum members. Strictly OD&D: three brown box, 1st three supplements, my imagination. How you work it out is up to you; draw straws, play flinch, cut cards, use seniority or age or fight spitwad duels.Time and place to be determined at GenCon as soon as schedule for Frank and me gets known. It can be someone's room, a corner in a hall, a lobby, whatever. It just has to fit into my auctioning schedule because they do pay for my room (with my bunkie Frank), after all.I think I'll run another session through the Mad Tower adventure from Gary Con, but this will be 2nd Ed. I found a few glitches in the first ones I printed, so I have to make some changes and clean up a couple of embarassing mistakes and typos.Oh, one other thing. I would love for it to be an international group, so all you Stateside guys have to allow for fighting it out with some of our foreign brothers.Any interest?

Kaskoid wrote:As stated earlier, yes; #'s 3 and 4 will be finding new homes at GenCon. That said, I am aiming for GenCon, or sooner, to have the re-written, re-vised and re-worked adventure done by then as well, which means I will probably be bring copies of that as well to the dinner. I have no problem selling the adventure one night to someone that might be playing in it the next night. Whointhehell wants to adventure in something you already know? That's not simple cheating, that is defying the whole ethos of RPGing. The guy (diaglo at DF) that got the auctioned copy at GaryCon had it on Sat. night and played in it Sun. morning. I did not know the man previously, but when he said that he'd not looked at it yet he said it with such true regret and longing in his voice that I fully believed him.If those that get on board to play at GC are of a similar ilk, then I certainly trust them as well. Besides, I will know pretty damn fast if someone is working with prior knowledge and start altering the script on the spot. Old school was all about improvisation and flying by the seat of one's pants.
