Makes me glad I finally nabbed one a little while back for $31. Cover is a little worn with corners a touch rounded, but the innards are nice and clean.

What can I say, folks like my work. :wink:

Gary and I knew we should crank out a compendium of the boxed sets; the originals aren't designed for rules-referencing. But we both left TSR before it happened, alas.

(I assume y'all know the RC is 99% mine, even though my name was buried in the credits due to politics.)

Yeah, it is kinda wacky that your name is buried like it is... gotta love politics. :roll:

Anyway, like you said... it is a good rules-reference.

We're currently playing a Classic game and I make sure I bring along my RC, just in case something needs to be looked up during the game. (The DM doesn't own a copy... but does have the Basic through Masters sets.) It has been used a few times, so far.

The Rules Cyclopedia is a fine book if you want everything in one book. As for whether the current prices are worth it, that would depend on the likelihood of Companion/Master's material appearing in your campaign.

I don't think a D&D collection would be complete without one, but for play I prefer the original books.

Actually, I really prefer the Cook/Moldvay books better. No offense to Frank, but I never cared for that set (BXCMI).

But I really like what Alston did with the RC - and yes I know it where it comes from.

AU $95.00. Way over priced for it's condition! If it was mint, maybe. But I can't count how many times I've seen auctions claim such items are "rare". :roll:
