They'd never catch you, but DNA tests might lead them to the dog...use someone else's dog.

To further complicate matters of being "tracked", if you print the mailing label it might contain information that is traceable.

Aneoth:  Since you welcome more comment....you are coming off like an egotistical ass whether you meant to or not...just so you are aware.
Busman:  Doesnt mean you have to act in a similar fashion.

When I get home from work I think am going to make a copy of one of my numerous illegal .pdf's and distribute it to all of the illegal aliens looking for work at the bus station down the street.  Maybe I will go over the speed limit on the way there too.  I might tear up a dollar bill or put a dog turd in my mailbox as well.

Amen.  Why are we even having these sorts of useless discussions?  Leave that to the good folks at Dragonsfoot if they aren't having a good argument over what side of the Graph paper to use or whether the new Indiana Jones movie RAWKS or not.

One last word thought it's so ironic that people who regularly drive over the speed limit, participate in office basketball pools that pay out money, and inflate value of items they donate to charity will be the one who screams bloody murder that someone somewhere is making a copy of a map or magazine article like the hordes of hell are going to descend on you to throw you in jail.  Unless that person has a stake (i.e. they wrote the article in question and want renumeration) they should just keep their mouth shut and 99% of the useless internet copyright articles would be killed before they start.  I'm still waiting (16 years after first getting online) in vain to see someone, ANYONE, prosecuted for damages because they photocopied a D&D module.

As a matter of fact, I'm off right now to run a photocopy of B2 "just for laughs" and I'm going to sell it to my brother for $1.  Bwah ha ha hahahahaha! COME AND GET ME PUNKS!!!!

(In all seriousness let's let this drop.  Being online for 16 years I'm not up for my 999,999,999th lecture on what is and isn't illegal to photocopy/distribute)

Sorry to have started the discussion on copying it... I was joking. I do wish I had one of those plotters though. Would make duplicating the Darlene Greyhawk map so much easier, so I could have a damn good play copy, and one to keep safe and sound, away from Cheetos and Dew.

Opinions of my posts are truly irrelevent in regards to the purpose of this thread. Ass or not I do have a right to defend my opinions. Even if they are wrong.

I was responding to a unasked for opinion about Hasbro coming after me for Copyright Infringement. And yes that topic has been discussed on this forum till it makes me want to puke on my freeking keyboard. That was part of the reason for my own rant.

But then this was a thread STARTED by me.

I didnt begin this thread for discussing CI, that was someone else.
This thread was started to talk about a map I copied and how nice it came out on Photo Paper. Not to start some hack and slash of my posting habits or to discuss copyright laws.

I shoulda known better than to stick up for myself here.

Sheese.

Start your own freeking thread if you want to talk about that sorta crap.

I had thought my initial response was innocuous enough, I even dropped two "technically"s in there. When Aneoth decided to drop some internerd bombs on me, I responded in kind. I'm happy to drop it and move on.

Awesome looking map.

I noticed this effect as well. This map

http://www.ibiblio.org/mscorbit/beta/Ca ... Ghinor.jpg

it is very noticeable the difference between plain paper printing and glossy photo paper.

Even for black and white maps there is difference in sharpness.

Very nice looking map.
I have not yet tried a B&W, and I was also planning to try out the methods on a Judges Guild brown map too.
I am concerned that the solid Brown background might make the print come out badly.

By that philosophy, King should start a Dog Turd thread.  King -- please don't do that.  Let's learn to share the threads, guys.

Please stop being a jackass.

You mentioned copyright. I responded innocently enough. You decided to be a big jackass. I responded in the way you seemed to want to take it. Now you want to get in the last jab after I've already, twice, said I'm willing to drop it.

Reread the thread. You didn't "defend" yourself, you attacked me with your ignorance. *I* defended myself from your way over the top response to my initial two sentence response. Go on. Reread the thread. Look at what I wrote. Look at your response. Was it Bill Owen jumping in that got you so worked up?

It's been over a decade since I read the actual core federal statutes on copyright, but I seem to recall that you're allowed to make backup copies of a work you have purchased. If your copy is mutilated, you are allowed to own copies of the missing material. Backups are probably covered in a different section of the law than the one you're looking at.

However, in the 90s the law was altered so that no one can make a profit from helping you make backups. So it technically might be illegal to do this at Kinko's, maybe you need your own printer like Aneoth has.

Keep in mind that Acaeum members pretty much are the world's premiere organization for the scholarship & research of RPG history. The playing field's pretty small; if we don't preserve it, maybe no one else will & it will be lost forever. If anyone's legit, it's us.

Keep Bill Owen out of this, Bill Owen obviously Posted as I was making up ways to be an ass and making up laws in my post.

Well stated, and you did so without once calling me any derogatory names...... astounding. How did you do it?

Hey! How about we lock this thread? It's getting way too personal.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

And he has done so several times.

And yet you just keep on begging for more.  :?   If "egotistical ass" and "jackass" was all you got hit with you should consider yourself lucky and just let it go.

Seriously.

How are they going to fight if the thread gets locked? Have a heart, I've just discovered this thread and I have a whole carton of popcorn to get through yet!

Mike, how much for the 1st printing of that B2 you're going to copy?
