I found the writing problematically dry.

An excellent exhibition of EGG's densely written prose.

Some inventive encounters, but unfortunately not a hit with the buyers.

Just ran that tonight as a one-off.  Half the party died fighting the ogre and goblins, the other half killed each other off afterwards; one player had set a character goal of 500 gp, so he went to head back to civilization after they looted the ogre's lair.  (He found the gold-covered lead and thought it was real.)

Rest of the party didn't take kindly to being abandoned without all the gold and made sure he knew this.

Without a doubt ... B2 ... you never forget your first ...

And as a close second and I agree with Xaxaxe on this point, T1.  Although after Friday night's game battling the Master in the dungeon, it should be called T1: The Victims of Hommlet.  Not even self-immolation by an NPC nor the typical assault with oil flasks could help our doomed party.  We ran out of the dungeon with our asses kicked three ways to Wednesday.

Thanks Gary!  :D

Hello Mrs. Cleaver, Theodore.

Gee, Mrs. Cleaver ... That certainly is a lovely dress.

Hi everyone,

I'd have to go along with module T1 The Village of Hommlet as one of my favorites of Gary's works.

I also have a soft spot for his Gord the Rogue novels and their over-the-top approach to everything.  Particularly the demons' insults to each other ("you perfumed butterfly!") and that foppish nobleman with the cerise-colored leather gloves and a propensity for spouting "Nuncle" whom Gord and his barbarian chum kept getting involved with.  Plus Keek (including the obvious "Geek" joke) and Obmi, and the in-fighting between Iggwilv, Iuz and Zuggtmoy during the last couple books.

Cheers,
JohnH

T1 was one of my first adventures...I died on the 1st encounter, killed by a giant frog.   :(

T1 - I remember reading it for the first time and thinking how perfectly Gary captured the town. The moathouse, however, was so unbalanced I made several "adjustments" so the party wouldn't get slaughtered.

B2 - the classic dungeon crawl.

S3 - just plain cool

S1 - you can't deny instant death.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

As it goes I've never been convinced that S1 was meant to be 'do-able' - I am deeply suspicious af any party that sailed through it.

(No party I ever DM'd back in the day made it to the end (some fled before death!)), and if I'm honest I was quite a lenient DM!!)

GW1?  Which world, and how hard is it to find today?
Also, is that the only GW-series module, or are we talking
about the Gamma World milieu?
