Badmike wrote:The Pinball convention was a blast! Dozens and dozens of machines, the entire place felt like a good old fashioned arcade hall. We played for about 4 hours straight and I definitely got my moneys worth.....15 bucks! I may be going back tonight as it's open until 1 am....sneak out of the house at 10pm for a little pinball mayhem!A large variety of machines, most I had never seen (since I haven't stepped inside an arcace in about 25 years most of the newer ones were completely unknown to me). I spent most of my time at only a few, trying to get decent at those, instead of machine-hopping. Mostly played the Demolition Man, Lethal Weapon, Starship Trooper, Simpsons (sue me, I like commercialization!!!), and some old ones like Black Pyramid and Mata Hari. The machines spanned the 40's to the present. About halfway through the day it started filling up and it was pretty hard to find a empty machine. Also a ton of venders there selling parts and pieces. A lot of the machines were on sale, ironically most of the older machines were cheapest (running $700-$900) and the newer machines were pricey ($2-$7 grand!). If I had a few thousand to spend I would have definitely bought some of the cool older machines, those are the ones i mostly remember from my youth.Anyway, a fun time. Myself, Kingofpain, JohnGaunt, and Sickrewhisp met there with a friend of Dougs, then went to lunch at Fuddruckers and met up with SeatoSkygames. Nice fun way to spend an afternoon! Really makes me wish we had a decent gaming con somewhere close to Dallas..really sad that such a major metropolitan area is berefit of any sort of concention activity so Acaeum members from Texas and beyond can't meet here.Mike B.
