Echohawk wrote:killjoy, I'm intrigued... please tell me more about Beholder magazine. Who published it, and what sort of content did it have? How many issues did it run and when were they printed? Were those creatures presented as D&D creatures or given quite vague D&D compatible stats like some of those in the very early White Dwarfs? Sorry for so many questions, but D&D trivia fascinates me...
And... trilobite? That's very cool. I like trilobytes. I have a fossilized one on a shelf nearby. But yet, up until now, I have not come across stats for a trilobyte anywhere in the history of D&D

i will leave it to someone like Brette to tell you about the Beholder fanzine....he's way more clued up than me.
save to say its a pretty rare UK fanzine...damn hard to acquire unless by pure fortune that you were sat in the auction at GenCon of all places, where i picked up a nice little batch cheap - thanks to the kindness of bill (stratochamp), who was the ONLY bidder against me or i would have got it for a ridiculous price. yourside of the pond, seems its pretty unknown bar to the chosen few.....
its my favorite fanzine though and has some fab adventures in and some really fun monsters and articles.
i have issues #2 to #25 in digest size and then #26-#29 in A4 size (these are even harder to get than the other issues) and there are a few supplements as well, but i only have one of them.
*nudges brette re: issue #1*
