- I immediately contacted the seller to advise that these mags aren't worth 1/4 what they sold for and would he be willing to do a partial refund for any amount he chose.

A separated cover is Good? Pretty generous. Then again, I am a strict grader.

I think that it depends heavily on what is seperated.  I can speak only for myslef but I don't mind maps seperated but would have a problem with anything else.  I would grade maps seperated per acaeum, any item that has something other than maps seperated would probably be instantly Poor/Damaged.  Just my .02.

All this talk about throwing away perfectly useful Dragon's gives me the willies.

I like owning a decent copy of a module or magazine, complete and legible, but I don't care if it is in perfect shape or not and shrinkwrap would be useless (Like sealing a comic in a plastic holder so that it can never ever be read again).

I like copies that have notes and maps changes. I collect modules that have been used, preferably with notes. For me the history of the module makes it more valuable, not less.

I like having a refrence copy that I have highlighted and used for indexing.

I like to have another copy with my own notes in it with changes and additions. One for each time I run a campaign with my DM copy of the character sheets.

I just don't get the sealed in plastic, never to be opened, never to be used, collectible. It reminds me of this old episode of MASH where they are trying to get some kind of baterial incubator machine and the supply sergeant has three, never used, but doesn't want to let them have one because then he would have only two.

So, before anyone throws out old *but not dirty, wet or musty, magazines or modules how about offering them up for people here. I wouldn't mind extra copies of certain articles or some of the comics from the back of old Dragons. like Worrmy or Fineous Fingers. There were some cool old advertisements too, and some inetrior artwork. I just hate to hear about all these thing being trashed when they could be saved and appreciated.

I believe I would have just found some staples that fit and inserted them into the magazines.  It can be done.

I can see myself showing Dragons 1 though 6 to a friend and saying, "Yeah, but they suck because the staples aren't original."  

I think I could live with that.

No doubt, I'd take early Dragons anyday with "new 2007" staples anyday before throwing them, esp. since my earliest issue is in the 30s.

Having had my Dragon #1 destroyed, and not being able to find it since, I'd have loved to have had the hope to have even thought I could have gotten one. Alas, the dream must remain a dream... which is why I'm not in a rush to get it. Those people who have them won't get rid of them, and the ones who have too many throw them away.
