I'd particularly like to hear about the higher end items? maybe the Gygax estate items or the brimstone?

My only comment would be that I didn't think the second set of Crystal Caste dice were Meteorite, but I couldn't tell you what they were.

The dice sets were Tyrannosaurus Rex Fossil and North African Chondrite Meteorite.

I completely understand. There were a huge number of items to get through. You, Jim and the other auction staff did a great job and kept the auction pace fast and furious!

Caught the crud also. It seems like every convention these days results in a massive outbreak. At GaryCon we run a booth and it is a sure thing to get sick every year.

BTW: Anyone want to state what they picked up? Devon and I only bought 2 items in the auction(Forgotten Realms Atlas(computer version) and a slabbed/graded L1 Japanese. We also picked up several items in the store, mainly a few items to fill our GaryCon stock.

Also any thoughts on the many items with high reserves that didn't sell? I left the auction twice as after a 1/2 hour of no sales we got bored and decided to spend our time doing something entertaining(just don't have the patience to watch auctioneers start an item at $10 when the reserve was $30+, every time the item would get to $20 and then no sale. Just start the bid at the reserve to save people time and energy).

Yes, there appeared to be more reserves on items than seen in the past. Some of the reserves were definitely high.

At least during the TSR RPGs and Collector Section auctions, the auctioneers did begin to address this by starting at the minimum bid and mentioning the reserve price to expedite the bidding. I did notice that during some auctions they didn't start at the minimum bid, though, which shouldn't happen. It's fairly common auction protocol for the reserve amount to not be mentioned until it is met or exceeded. If an item has a reserve it would be better to mention that up front, though.

Other than there seeming to be more high reserves than normal, the auction staff did a great job of pushing through all the auction items. In 2024 there were apparently 22,781 items run through the auction of which 16,099 were sold, either through the auction or the consignment store. Compared to 2023, there were 14,078 items run through the auction with 12,513 sold.

The number of items was considerably higher, but the percentage of unsold/sold was also higher:

2024 Percentage of Unsold Items: 29.34%
2023 Percentage of Unsold Items: 11.12%

It's not immediately clear to me how many items were actually successfully sold at auction vs. in the consignment shop.
