Excellent!

Hopefully the details are still in a thread someplace, but there are at least three different variations of the 7th print PHB:
a) Picture on page 108 descends to the left
b) Picture on page 108 descends to the left; includes the errata currently attributed to the 8th print
c) Picture on page 108 descends to the right; includes the errata currently attributed to the 8th print

I have what appears to be a 3rd gamma. Its endpapers are pasted over but I cant see any previous binding holes. The text on page 99 is not at an angle.

I also have 1st prints and 4th prints on up.

My p.99 doesn't look like it's angled at first glance, but by measuring the top of the text & its distance from the outer right-hand edge, it is about 1/8" closer than the bottom of the text is to the outer right-hand edge.

I never checked the distance there before. I had always looked at the bottom of the page from left to right.

I took your advice and checked it on the right hand edge top and bottom. I get very little difference, about 1/32". That small amount could be my eyes getting older but its definitely not a major angle. Any other aspects that I can check?

Just re-measured (within the limited capability of two rulers), & the upper text is more like 1/16" closer to the edge than the bottom is. I suppose it's hard to tell without calipers. However, we may venture conclusions from the data collected thus far: measuring from the top yields a length demonstrably less than the measuring from the bottom. Therefore, the 2nd-beta/4th print Dungeon Masters Guide is like a penis.

I am totally thread necromancing this, just for posterity and in case anyone cares about this still.

So, I am in the process of listing a DMG for sale and in the process of trying to determine it's printing, I see that it matches none of the listed printings on the site currently.

https://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/setpages/dmg.html

From what I can tell, the DMG that I am listing now runs somewhere in the sixth printings, however it also has a couple of key differences that are not currently enumerate in any of the one currently lisited on the site.  This copy is closest to the listed Sixth gamma, via:

"Sixth Gamma (1980)

   Endpapers and flyleaves are white

The text on the spine is aligned to the "bottom" of the spine, rather than being centered. This is possibly due to the printer using a slightly thinner cover and/or page stock, resulting in a thinner overall book

No survey form, and reference sheets are NOT perforated

   236 numbered pages

This print is otherwise identical to the Sixth Alpha print, above"

However, while my copy has white endpapers and flyleafs and only has "Advanced D&D*tm*" on the front cover(with no adventure games as listed on the 7th print), the text on the spine is centered(as opposed to near the bottom), it has 238 numbered pages(not 236), it has no survey form and while the reference pages say that they are perforated, they are most certainly not. They are bound like regular pages and no signs of any perforations on any of them.

Based on these differences, I suspect this would put my printing slightly later than the sixth gamma, but before the listed seventh print.

ETA:  I just took a bunch of pictures too, just in case anyone wants to see them.
