But I am slightly "fussy", and I like to see my boxed set fits perfectly in a perfect sized bag :)

If you measure as indicated, that's about the closest you will be able to get to a perfect fit, short of buying the bags and trying them out.  Since collectible items vary so much in size and shape, I've purchased almost every known bag size, just so I can get the best fit possible.
