There is a description in an early Alarums & Excursions of the Tomb of Horrors which was run at Origins 1. At some point there had to have been one or more copies of this D&D tournament version. Perhaps someone could find out more information about the pre-1e version of ToH?

I'm poking around the Internet for it.
Won't find anything you guys wouldn't, but did discover that TOH has its own Facebook page  8O

I always pictured Tomb of Horrors as more of a show piece...an example from Gygax of how a DM could be fiendish and mercilous if he wanted.  I have heard of guys getting through it alive, but I think the legends are exagerated.

Now...if you game with Bill Webb, you see PC's die in suitably horrible ways, with enough death traps to keep any rogue starting over at 1st level about once an hour.

The guys at PaizoCon died right and left...snakes, demon idol jaws, falling out of trees, falling off ropes, poison...as well as the usual suicidal choices like charging at owlbears or closing with wraiths.  8O
