Or maybe prices are just down overall, or maybe the seller rating is scaring some people, or maybe people are scared somewhat by the item rating scale which appears strict to me by typical eBay standards (not that I'm complaining), or something else.  I agree that prices overall are lower than I would have predicted for this stage of the auction.   :?

Each of us will perform a post-auction analysis and postulate why Item A sold for X-dollars.  Unless winners post their reasons here, it will remain speculation.

I'd bet money on the items recovering by the time they end...

I'm just glad I was able to get in on this auction and didn't miss it, like so many others I find out about after the fact.

Hi,

without being funny, why would, for example, an L5R CCG player care if his Emerald edition starter once sat on Gary Gygaxs shelf?

Theres no emotional connection there, so stuff like that won't go that high.

Cheers,
Malc

But look at a different collector, who just wants anything of Gary's.  If it ends up being just some cards they'll never use, so be it.

I'd expect everything to sell above what it "should" for a comparable copy.

Areas of interest/knowledge: Harn, WFRP, Ars Magica, anything BRP based such as CoC, Runequest, Pendragon and all their related games

Everything listed should go +25% over estimate like last time.... or higher...

+25% seems like a really lowball estimate, considering some items are already 4x to 5x normal and beyond.

Maybe this has been answered somewhere else, but the money is going to his widow, yes?  Or some fund or charity?

Don't forget that the EGG items do come with a certificate of authenticity.

Hey everyone,

I've been tracking a couple of the items and even with one day left to go the prices are much lower than what the final bids were for the previous auction back in December.

For example:
TSR Gamma World 2nd Edition 1983 SHRINK!
The first auction it sold for US$196.50.
The present one is at US$56.00

TLG Castles & Crusades Zagyg The Upper Works Set
The first auction it sold for US$360.05
The present one is at US$199.97

SPI The China War 1979 SHRINK
The first auction it sold for US$57.30 (Yes I bought that one...)
The present one is at US$7.19 (Maybe I should bid on this one too and can say I got a bargain for two of them... :P)

TSR Chainmail 8th Print 1980 SHRINK
The first auction it sold for US$202.50
The present one is at US$56.00

TSR Star Frontiers Star Frontiers 2nd Print Alpha Dawn SHRINK
The first auction it sold for US$151.00 and I don't think it was a Shrink copy.
The present one is at US$20.00

Will the final bids for these items this round beat or even equal the first one?

Anyone have any ideas why the numbers are lower this time around?

Best regards,
Ronald

Buyer fatigue?

It's hard to say what they will go for until the auctions are over.

The fat lady has not even warmed up yet.
I suspect there are more Snipes flying around on the Internet looking over those lots waiting for that last second hit than most anything else on E-Bay right now.

I have a few bids in tonight so I've been watching the final count downs and have only noticed a few snipes. Most of them have been ending with the going price that's been there since yesterday or earlier today.

I ended up focusing on just a primary item and a backup item. I got outbid on my primary till I came back and got it at the very end. A bit happy now to own something from EGG's collection.

While writing this, looks like I won a minor backup item as well.

So far, when snipers dueled for the rarer items, the price did go up a lot.

The number 8 of 200 Lejendary Adventures Gazetteer just exploded from snipers, but an earlier max-bid won out.

Me, I'm happy to have won some of the oddball items (as usual).

Hey everyone,

Did anyone else's jaw drop at the final price for the Holmes set from the EGG auction?

** expired/removed eBay auction **

US$308.25...

Sure it's a shrink but...

Best regards,

Ronald

Just Wow! I did not expect that. I've had my box since I bought it brand new back in the 80s.

TSR AD&D UK5 Eye of the Serpent -
** expired/removed eBay auction **

This one brings back memories. It was my first RPG/D&D/AD&D module ever and I still have it.
