Both sets of faux leather I have are consistent for volumes I - III. Volume IV changes. The difference is not the logo (which is the dragon in a circle) but the wording of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (both Volume IVs drop the 2nd Edition reference). The version without 2nd Edition mentioned directly has Dungeons and Dragons underlined. The volumes which do say 2nd Edition use the traditional (Forgotten Realms) style script.

And of course I should have been more clear. I am talking about the Encyclopedia Magica sets, not the Spell Compendiums. All seven volumes (one complete set) share the same logo and script on the spine but none are faux leather.

Priest's Spell and Wizard's spell compendium volumes have been known to find their way onto Half Price Bookstore shelves with prices below original retail values - their condition, certainly, is subjective.

FYI (if you don't already know): Half Price Books has expanded to online selling. The Priest's volumes are listed at not surprising inflated prices. Personally haven't bought from them online. FYI: their shipping discounts on multiple items is competitive to www.half.com.

It almost looks like half.com is just another amazon competitor - allows other stores to list their items. It always amazes me what someone will value a book at. Here's a good but crazy valuation:

$956.98 and this seller is given some credit by passing his Ebay rating along even though their DSRs and negatives are pretty crap.

It does look like there are some very reasonable prices there too though.

Half.com began as an Amazon competitor, but it was purchased by eBay a number of years ago. Half.com IDs became eBay IDs ending in "-half". Half.com remains a separate site.

As with Amazon, stock photos are used for item descriptions. Quality categories are similarly fast and loose, so don't expect perfection.

But, yes, some reasonably-priced items can be found at Half.com.

They are a US chain with about 100 stores located in several different large cities. There are about 20 in the Dallas/Fort Worth area alone. They sell virtually everything printed or recorded at half cover except for rare items.

No, they are unrelated.

Areas of interest/knowledge: Harn, WFRP, Ars Magica, anything BRP based such as CoC, Runequest, Pendragon and all their related games

No, the chain was actually started in Dallas in 1972. Their only connection to Ebay is that they have a webstore on Ebay (with some really ridiculous prices). They have done quite well on the secondary market and a couple of their stores are the size of department stores. They are a pretty well run business, never in debt, have never borrowed money, and refuse to go public. Good local source for used gaming items with the demise of the local game store.
