And years later, though (obviously) before I started collecting again, I saw some of my stuff up for sale in a local games store - why I didn't buy it remains a mystery to this day (I know it was mine - the inscription I put in the DMG was still there, and still makes me cringe

Except for a handful pf products that were lost to time, or lent out and not returned, I still own everything I've ever bought. What little money I had in Jr. High School went to D&D products or my GF. One of those two was a waste of money. :twisted:

However I missed out on a few cool products in their original format. PHB, DMG, and MM, I'm looking at you. I never picked those up with their original covers because I was always buying the stuff no one else in the group had. I did end up with cool stuff I wouldn't have bought otherwise though. It's one of those decisions I'm still a bit conflicted about. Sorry no pics, I don't own a camera for that job.

Icar, those pictures are special sauce. Nice username as well.

I still have all my original stuff (I'm a hoarder by nature anyway). As for a picture, the image of the Australian edition of the 'red box' Basic Set here on The Acaeum is a scan of my original copy...

The Players Handbook is lighter green and the cover texture is more leathery! Instead of splitting off and separating, the binding in the gutter has sort of pulled loose and bunched up because the textured material over the cardboard is of tougher stuff than slightly later prints. The cardboard backing to the spine is still completely attached to the cover because the material is tougher.
