Exactly! This is why I was so disappointed when sellers wouldn't "rate" me. I didn't happen often, but I don't actively bid very often, either. (Member since December 2006).

I remember those times. Everything was much more fluid. There was a lot more email traffic between sellers and potential buyers - if you really wanted something there w as lot more work to do

ebay then was more like a community noticeboard than amazon.

Tracking stuff "by hand" before there was a My eBay function ...

Checks and money orders ... lots of checks and money orders ...

eBay hating PayPal and doing everything they could to squash them ...

PayPal being called X.com ...

eBay introducing its uber-lame Billpoint payment system ...

All listings were auctions ... and all search results were listed by time remaining.

Ah. Good times!
