No way I'd be able to recite my collection.  Might be able to recall having something or not if I see it.  Excel file of my RPG and novels has been an asset ever since I created it.  Course when I get my house *crosses fingers* I'll have to update the file to know where everything is again.

I couldn't recite everything from memory ... what do you take me for, a Vulcan? :D  :alien:

But, if I were to go down a list or flip though a catalog or something, then I could say yes or no.

I'm gonna have to break down and get an iPod or something like it.

This weekend, I had to call my daughter at home and get her to check my collection spreadsheet....twice.

No way to print it off.  The spreadsheet is too large, and I'd just have to print it off again in a little while.

Or if you have easy enough access to a computer when not at home (even a public one, such as at a library) you could keep a mini Jump Drive with you with that File saved to it.
They are small enough to not be in the way no matter how light you are traveling and most are big enough now (Memory Wise) to hold most of the files that are not programs on most home computers.

I use several of them in my business and I find them nearly indispensable for what I use them for.
A few years ago, I used CDs to copy work files from the office to take home and back again, and DVDs for some of the larger files.
But now CDs are basically a thing of the past, and I think DVDs are close behind, including Blue Ray (I think they are simply a fad, like Laser Discs).

It has to be in my hand when I'm standing in Half Price Books.

Just buy the books (or whatever) and return them later if you already have them.  You can make returns at any Half-Price Books.
