WGR4 can top around $100, while WGR5 could reach 50-60. WGR3 is pretty cheap.

(I bought a package of crumbling Partha minis off eBay a while back that made me wish for the box of cookies/chocolates though, since the cookies, being equally impulsive, would've been at least sustaining.)

Search for "lead rot".  Humidity, temperature, and stale air are possible causes.  You can simulate lead rot by pouring vinegar on lead minis.  Watch 'em bubble and crumble . . .

There's lots of good advice in those articles.  Some mention about not breathing in the powder, but it's best to even wash your hands after handling minis with lead, and make sure you don't touch your eyes, mouth or nose while working with these old minis also.  The major danger lead poses is to younger children/minds, but I have so few healthy brain cells, I have to take good care of all three of them.



The bottom line is it's best to at least prime all your minis all over as soon as you get them, and store them with silica gel in a non-wood container inside your house.

All metals can oxidize.  Pewter is more stable than most, but if you don't take care of it, it'll disintegrate over time as well.
