Spending a rainy afternoon scanning and grading mods, I came to a "Dungeon Master's Adventure Log", 2nd printing.  Opening it to check for writing, I found about a fourth of it completed in a laborious childish hand.  The first "unusual events":  

Damascus got killed by his own double, belongings to Tolnar.  Yundak changed name to Slammer and also changed alignment.  Billy Bob and George died.  Tolnar took armor and weapons.  Mom's gonna be mad.

Then in the next "unusual events":

Rolinger squished by Tyrannosaurus Rex.  Slammer carried off by a Giant Shark.

Then:  Tolnar died.

And then:  Ged loses gonads.

That is the last page with writing.  Guess they couldn't go on after that.

This is the sort of thing I would love to return to its original owner.  The book lists the real names of the players.  Last names are Peeples, Morley, Ayres, Malone, Galiopo, Lyda, Barnes, Mandus, and Curtis.  Tell me the first name and this one is yours.

I know it would never fly in the US, but I think relegation would add a whole new dimension to our domestic sports. The cellar-dwellers in the various domestic leagues would finally have a reason to play harder!

Can't wait for June 12th! USA v England in South Africa. It's going to be a tough match, but the USMNT has come a long way in the past decade, so I expect a hard-fought and hard-played match.

Wait a minute.....Didn't St. George slay the dragon (dinosaur)?  

For those of you that are planning to see the Clash of the Titans remake, you might want to read a few reviews first.  Apparently it was never intended to be a 3D film and after witnessing the 3D monstrosity that is Avatar they reworked a bunch of 3D bits into it so they could market it as such.  According to several critics, their attempt failed miserably and makes the film rather difficult to watch.  So if you are going to watch it, do so in 2D and save your money.

Who said climate change sucks. Sounds ok to me. On another note, my 13-year-old just turned in her term paper today on the subject of Man-made Climate Change and how Al Gore is a fraud.

By the time she is in college you should coach her to never take a position in a paper that might contradict a professor's opinion.  

That is guaranteed to drop her grade by one full point.

The professor grades the quality of your writing and how well you supported your arguments.  If you disagree with the professor it logically follows that you did not support your arguments.

The further left-leaning the professor the more passionate the opinions and the greater the penalty for disagreeing.

This is axiomatic.

Been there done that. Worst class was a latin america class. I swear to god the teacher was Castro's freaking sister. And I was surrounded by idiots. One discourse ended up with some moron yelling that America dropped the bomb. Wow. How can you argue with that?

Ah, college life.  I knew even then there was something "different" about me, but sometimes the hell was still shocked clean out of me by both teachers and students there.

I was lucky to get a pretty intelligent guy for an economics class that was actually a bit to the right of Kaiser Wilhelm. He was a Russian emigre whose family had suffered under the various human's rights abuses there and had been able to come to the US and go to college. The funny thing about the class I took with him was a hardcore group of communist/left wing apologists also took the same class. Their confrontations with the prof during the class were legendary. I was always amused at how logically inept their arguments were and how their concepts of universal peace, love and redistribution of wealth became utter nonsense under his detailed questioning.  Some of my favorite all-time nonsense quotes came out of that class, such as "Why does anyone need to make over $100,000 a year? The government should be given anything over that so they can give it back to the people" and "Why did we have to drop the bomb on Japan?  What's the worst thing that could have happened if we had just let them be?." Scary to think some of those students are my age today and may even be teachers somewhere....

Good for her.  A major portion of this country needs to wake up and look at the facts and not some report paid for by the government propaganda machine.  Too bad she's done with it.  I could have referred her to quite a bit of info.

My son recently had to do a persuasive paper for his high school sophomore English class and wrote on the importance of the 2nd ammendment and why gun control should be opposed.  He wound up getting a 96% and the teacher requested to keep it to use as an example for her class next year.  I was proud of him.
