Lost power Saturday evening. Family board game night would not be denied. Though we usually break out Scattergories or some other such game, I made an exectuive decision. Gaming by candle light.
Note: wife and oldest daughter abstained.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

Nicely done, Bill.  Looks like two well-adjusted kids.

Odd request, but am looking for the "How to Train your Dragon" toys from McDonalds (next week I believe they start to be released).  Might be able to do so myself, but if I can not (or not all of them) I am wondering if anyone here might help by procuring some.  Won't know what I need of course till the promotion ends.

Thanks,
ShaneG.

Interesting self-supporting "why we should rip off copyright and get everything onto free .pdf whether the author wants it or not" (paraphr. ;)) discussion ongoing on Fin's board; http://odd74.proboards.com/index.cgi?bo ... hread=3331

Feel free to read or join in but please be sensitive of the "collectors hyping the market and taking gaming materials away from the gamers" p.o.v. "ventings". :)

Anyone else have this but with 1167XXX1904 on back cover and credits page.  I take it mine is a 2nd print because it has copyright 1994, 1996.

I think those were also bundled in a boxed set. Might explain the two printings.

And some of us think we have a great collection.  We're not even playing the same game!

Neat! I'd missed that first time around: thanks for the link, Martin; and a wonderfully eclectic library/museum, too. :)

Just about back into my comfort zone on the last image and not only the tech kit. Didn't win the Enigma machine I had a few bids on several years back, though.

I don't think I've ever had both at once to be sure, but I haven't heard of any differences.

Cool Stuff in that collection.   :D

RPG’s, D&D in particular has had a major influence in my life. It’s bonded me together with life long friends...it’s that bond in life not just as friends, but in our jokes, our mannerisms, and what we find funny. Invincible Overlord

Hello bigironvault, It would be interesting if you were to pop over the the Random/OT strand and tell us about your online resource and your current game business projects.

Hi all, thought that I would oblige FormCritic by introducing ourselves to your community.

About us
Big Iron Vault we're a little indie magazine that is dedicated to the idea that gaming is not just a hobby its a lifestyle. We publish our own magazine where both amateur and professional artists and game developers can publish their works, to get it critique by their peers and to distribute their work to a larger audience.

The goal of Big Iron Vault is to give the hundreds of passionate writers, artists and gamers a place to voice their opinion and get published without needing the dreaded 'industry experience'. We believe that what everyone has to say is of the utmost importance. In other words, this is our humble attempt at giving the gaming masses a voice in the industry!

Today, we've garnered some great and much appreciated support from the industry by likes of Shelly Mazzanoble, Ed Greenwood, Monte Cook, Doug Davison (Fantasy Grounds) and even Ethan Gilsdorf, author of one of my fav books Fantasy Freaks and Gaming Geeks. Above all this, the community of the whole has really contributed to the budding success of our magazine. The number of people I owe beers to is far too much to list here but you can find them at http://www.bigironvault.com under "About".

Influences
We've been influenced by many a great game designers, authors and artists of the past. It goes without saying that Gary Gygax, Frank Frazetta, Larry Elmore, Keith Parkinson, Robert E. Howard, H.P. Lovecraft have all been huge influences in what we do today... looking at that list, I think that makes us rather old school if I may use that term!

We hope that we can do these great industry giants justice with our work and to keep their themes and hopes alive.

Current Projects
We're working on a few projects on our own right now namely our Big Iron Vault quarterly magazine (Currently at #4) and our World of Lykarnia Fantasy RPG which we feel brings back the sense of good old classic fantasy gaming (May '10, we hope!) and a new project The Heindrich Project a post-apoc RPG based on the same system as our first RPG.

Aside from all that I'm an avid collector of my youth which pretty much makes me a collector of all things RPG and Lego...

If you'd like to learn more, please visit us at our website or join our fan page on Facebook "Big Iron Vault".

Cheers! I hope to see some of you at GenCon this year.

BIV #4 is now available at www.rpgnow.com. This issue features Monte Cook, Fantasy Grounds II and much more! ($2, 40 pages)

Seem to remember one called Beastmaster as well. Haven't seen that since I was about 10 either. Didn't like Krull. Only worth watching for Lysette Anthony.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Beastmaster... had that on tape, seem to remember playing it a whole lot about the time I got into D&D.
Wonder if it stands up to watching now?
...will it be better left in prepubescent memory?
