My son recently noticed a copy of the Dungeons & Dragons movie in our DVD library and has been bugging me to watch it for a week or two now. So tonight I finally gave in and watched it with him. My expectations were low because I had read/heard it was pretty bad. My son, who is 7 and currently infatuated with dragons and painting my extra miniatures, was only excited to see how many dragons were going to be in the movie

OK, so it was pretty bad. But I thought Jeremy Irons was pretty good in an over-the-top sort of way, Zoe McLellan is cute, and it was hard not to cheer out loud when Marlon Wayans bought the farm.

Oh, and at the end, when the skies were filled with dragons? Totally awesome if you are 7 and LOVE dragons!

Apparently everyone has been doing that lately. There have been a few NTSC copies of the game popping up on Ebay lately and the PAL format version of the game is going up in price quite a bit, even though it is much easier to find. Looks like a few fraudulent auctions have popped up as well. I found this seller trying to take advantage of the hysteria:

Had to ask my brother, but we did play this game - at least the later edition of this. Funny how NES back then had all these gadgets other then controllers and now the Wii is getting the same, but I don't recall the Super Nintendo or Game Cube with them.

Misleading story titles can swing public opinions, especially when many people tend to gloss over those story titles and then move on.
Title of the article above seems to suggest that certain Liberal orginaizations will fight beside the NRA to see that strict local gun control does not succeed.
When in fact they have a much deeper agenda.
They appear to be embracing the NRA's second amendment arguments for an individuals right to bear arms in a case for gun control laws in the City of Chicago.
They are currently arguing in the supremne court speaking alongside the NRA against that Cities very restrictive gun laws (banning ALL handguns) and attempting to make a federal case of the second amendment (Really the entire Bill of Rights) making it less of a local/state concern and more of a federal concern.

Politicians, lobiests and others who think to sway public opinion (and votes) always have a much deeper agenda than it at first appears.

Would anyone know how to make ebay purchases/feedback private? I've seen a few people with their feedback marked as private (it was 100%) and wondered how thats possible.

Might be handy for some purchases of items that I wouldn't want the wife to see!

It is possible. Can't remember how to do it, but if you use the eBay Help system it'll tell you how. Gotta say 'Private Feedback', even when it's 100% is often a red flag and would make me nervouse about buying from a buyer. Particularly if the cost I was paying was more than I'd be willing to write off (£20). You'd be better signing up for another eBay account and keeping your RPG eBay account open and transparent.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

I don't blame him for his glee. It's a pretty cool find.

Something gruesome like this can make an academic's career.

The fact that they were decapitated Vikings is an academic career bullseye. It means this guy is going to be interviewed for television and will appear as an expert in documentaries about the Viking Age. For the next twenty years he's going to be quoted in everything and the graduate students working with him just had major boosts to all of their doctoral theses.

If the skulls had belonged to Saxons or Picts or someone else less sexy than Vikings, it would have been an interesting find, but no one would do a television interview about it.

I fully agree. As a studied archaeologist myself, this is a huge find. Thats what I find fascinating, in that there is such enthusiasm for finding ancient bodies, (see TimeTeam) that many none archaeologists and historians argue that it is macabre and they should be left undisturbed. Sound argument on years old burial finds, but centuries/millenia?
Plus its only about a 90 minute drive from me!
