Yes, and Elmore just mentioned in the recent interview by Alexander1968 that it was one of the first things he worked on at TSR:

A: I became an employee in the autumn of 1981. My first job?....hum, I can't remember, but I know they were kicking off the 'pick your own path' type of books for the young male market and I did the first four or five of those (he refers to the Endless Quest gamebook series N.d.R.). Also, they were starting with their new sci fi game, Star Frontiers and I did the covers of those. I think I did the Original/Classic D&D (red dragon) box cover in 1982. And I think I did the Companion box in '82 also. We were talking about DragonLance in 1982, but it was a 'dream' at that time.

Tharizdun's Caldwell is in the first page of this thread. It's the cover of SF3 Sundown at Starmist (1983).

Come on now Brett!!! I knew that.. I was just saying that I think Parkinson drew this guy like he drew Starmist cause the characters and whatnot look very similar to me. Then Caldwell, Elmore, whoever else was in the break area... those guys were called up to start a paintin those there drawins :wink:

So I see a SF image posted and a lot of replies, but no answers to my own question. Was it answered there and I just missed it? I know the artwork was by K.P. but I'm trying to find the name of it as I can not find this artwork anywhere else other than on the cover of AD&D REF2 from 1986. Since K.P. is no longer with us and this image does not appear anywhere on his official site, I was hoping someone here might have more information on it.

According to TFM (aka TheFantasyMuseum), it's called "And Then There Were Three". You could register on that site and ask him if he has other info on that one.

Wow! You and my wife found this forum post around the same time. Thanks for the info I'll do that. At least now I know what to call it!

Strange to see others have a fond memory of this particular artwork like myself. For me this brings me back to my first exposure of D&D and my love for the fantasy realm, so I hold that particular artwork in high regards.

That guardian is absolutely fantastic!!

I used to make models from old car parts and metal when I used to work in a repair shop many years back, but that is something else... I love it.

No clue on the weight. I don't have a scale! With the current GF I ought to get one to keep her in line though...
That Gladiator is freakin heavy for sure. The other pieces vary but it's all metal and the Gladiator goes up till my hip and I'm nearly 6'0. The artist also did a Badass AT-ST walker from Star Wars (that's the stormtroopers armored vehicles in the battle sequence Vs Ewoks at the end of Jedi) and I was gonna get that one but then the gladiator was a one of and too many people were eyeing it so it came home with me. The AT-ST walker will be next and then a commission piece specifically for the TSR collection I have happening...

I had a lot of new photos of interior inks for some TSR and FASA but the computer isn't "finding" them from my camera card for some reason so just the sculpts for now.
