The charity game was a great time. An incredible opportunity to game with the legends  
One highlight was Jim Ward's character continuously announcing our presence (for good or bad) using a huge pair of kettledrums. That is until Dennis Sustare's character destroyed them. Jim's character did not survive too long after that. Some say it was the 20 foot long arrow that went through his back that did it. I say it was when the music died.

Just back from Texas.  An incredible blast, as always.  Doug and Mike outdid themselves, yet again.  I'm beat, but will post a con report when I've had a little sleep.

This might be short, but I had a blast!  I'll post pictures later.

This was my first NTX ever, and I went there having never met anyone there.  You read that right, I knew lots of people well through the forums, but I had never met anyone at all in person.  I wasn't nervous about it, but I wondered if all my mental images of everyone came anywhere close to what I imagined.  I did have some advance notice about appearances through past picture postings at cons of one kind or another.  Of course, no one had met me either.  It was more than a little fun to walk up to people and they have two completely different reactions, one pre-knowing my ACAEUM name and one post-knowing my ACAEUM name.  Wonderfully, everyone was finally glad to meet me, as I was to meet them.

Thursday morning I arrived and was able to meet with Jeff Easley and spent a couple of hours working with him to get the LE prints singed and numbered along with the Certificates of Authenticity.  Jeff was amazingly humble and reserved and extremely easy to work with.  He is an amazing artist, very professional and kind.  I am so pleased we worked with him on every level.

I went to the special guest lunch and ate across from Jim Ward and Erol Otus.  Both were full of stories about gaming and life and great to know.  I discovered Jim likes to tease, and has a great sense and appreciation for humor.

After lunch, I finished packing up the LE prints and started distributing them to con attendees who wanted to pick up their prints at the con.  I also instructed each of these people that they could ask Jeff Easley for a remarque, a personal art drawing in the margin of the print.  Everyone was excited about this possibility and most took Jeff up on his offer.  This was available only for con attendees as trying to manage remarques for every print would have been to difficult to effect or manage.  Plus, it just goes to show what an advantage it is to attend the con.  If you haven't figured this out by now, let me reiterate what a great con it is.  I also was able to continue connecting names with faces, and faces with voices.  I know I'll miss some folks, but I met Lucyjoyce and her son, Bracton, Badmike, Sketrewhisp, Kingofpain, Blackmoor, Nogrod, grodog, Cimmerian, Ligamancer, smarmy, stratochamp and the Burntwire Brothers.  Everyone was great.

Thursday night I played in Badmike's game, a AD&D take on B1.  I supplied some killer big maps (36" x 46") which allowed the use of minis and this sped up game play significantly.  We had a great time and conquered quite a bit of the dungeon.  We almost lost Lucyjoyce to poison, but revived her by throwing her in a pool of healing.  She turned the water black, and came out soaking wet, but alive.  The best moment of the game in my opinion was when we came to a room with a tall cabinet.  As we were wondering if the cabinet was trapped or contained poison gas, one of the players, who shall remained un-named, proclaimed, "You want to know how to to do this?  Let me show you how this is done,"  I realized this was going to be done his way and stated, "I am quickly moving to the door!"  Right after that, he said, "I take my sword, ram it through the middle, and slam the cabinet to the floor!"  Badmike rolled some dice, indicated the player was successful, and then told him a magical sword appeared out of the cabinet, and hit him for 7 points of damage.  The player looked stunned, looked down at his character sheet and said, "I'm dead."  Fortunately, I did not say what I was thinking, and also, we were able to revive him during the battle and bring him back to one hit point.  Great game all around.

Friday, I played in Steve Winters' D&D game, "Raid into Trollheim" along with Bracton, Stratochamp and smarmy.  I played an elf (F/MU), and our party successfully took forty elf men-at-arms into the troll and a Formorian giant king kingdom.  We kicked butt.  We were able to pick the spells for our 40 men-at-arms and chose 20 sleep spells and 20 magic missile spells and basically used them all right to the end of the adventure.  Steve is an excellent DM, and our crew worked well together balancing thieving spell casting and movement.  Friday night I did a AD&D game with EXTSR.  He was one part history lesson and three parts DM, interjecting interesting trivia and rule interpretations I had never thought or knew about.  There is a difference between Continual Light and Light.  Everybody needs to have him as their DM at least once in their life.  He is a legend and fascinating to be around.  The only bad thing was that we had some players who didn't turn off their electronic devices.  There were times when I had to tell people to listen.  I hate that.  We did not get very far in the dungeon.  We kept getting distracted and the players did not work together well.  There weren't many points of humor either.

Saturday, I did a morning AD&D game with tacojohn in the Caverns of Thracia.  He is an excellent DM, and the game was interesting.  We had a good crew that paid attention and worked together.  We had some interesting encounters, and only lost one player to an unfortunate dice roll (he did not save vs poison on a trap).  The group played well together and most everyone knew what they were doing.  That evening I did a high-level AD&D Greyhawk game with grodog.  That was great fun.  I was able to play a 13th level mage and sat next to Invincible Overlord who was playing a paladin.  He was a hoot and played it to the hilt.  He had a girdle of Frost Giant strength or something like that and was dishing out some major damage.  We completed our mission in good time and had one very interesting major encounter against five Ogre Magi.  They gave us a tough time.  Anyway, we saved the world.  Grodog is also an excellent DM, and high-level dungeons are not easy to DM.  The party worked well together although the thief was a little too risk-averse.

Sunday morning I did another D&D game with Steve Winter again playing an elf in an adventure called "Rings of Death."  We got to the major encounter half way through our allotted time, and the game dragged a bit after that.  I think we were all tired out from the con.  I knew I was.  Anyway, our major encounter involved releasing a druid demigod from his temple who unleashed massive destruction on the local beast men.  We got to see him wailing in the middle of his temple throwing beastmen off of him like water in the middle of a thunderstorm.  Epic.  Probably the best moment of the weekend.  The party worked exceptionally well together and it was probably the best party of the weekend.  I sat between Bracton and Blackmoor.  Sketrewhisp's son and some of his employees were in our crew and they were nice to meet.

Overall, a blast, as I said before, and I'll try to post more later, especially pictures.
