Have you seen these?

OK, those are excellent! And really really old. Very interesting. I bet I have some pics of these right on my bookshelf. Thanks for the link.

Here's a small lot at an O.K. price for now, and there's only and hour and a half left.  It's a re-seller's lot.

All I can really say about this is "Holy $#|+ !"

Granted, it is a 1st Printing (I asked the seller), and in very nice condition, but $300+ is a bit much ...

Black Blade Publishing imprint of OSRIC is not only the most definitive printing of OSRIC to date, but also the single greatest resource for old school gamers since the three original hardbacks written by E. Gary Gygax.

Gary got the Clinton place in the early '80s (more than half an hour's drive from Lake Geneva, thus requiring a driver since Gary didn't), and it was in a boondock location. But it had acres of land; all of 'em in that new development of big homes had land. Gary & family moved in, and Duke S. moved into another place a block away.

Mary Gygax wanted to raise Arabians, so Gary consented to keep her happy. Didn't help much; they divorced not long after. I know she had a couple (a few?) horses 'out back', but I don't think it ever succeeded as a business.

SO, these are some of the few relics of that interesting sidelight in Gary's history.

I didn't read anything in the sale description about the obviously removed price sticker on the cover and the marks near the spine might require explanation given those "nibbles", too? :)

Hmm... well they got $39.99 BIN in the end for that late print Greyhawk, nibbles-and-all;

Prices have been random (and some very strong, over this side of the pond), as with the white boxes. And not infrequently the better ones seem to go for less, for those...

Sigh... this is the second nice shape one I have missed out on.  Like the one in June that ended at $300 (and this one higher) I don't have a problem paying higher prices for these IF they are in nice almost near mint condition.  Would any of you be willing to sell me a non true first print but still a first as the same condition as this auction or better condition for $135 like the Acaeum main page lists as a price for a NM Players Handbook 1st print?

No, I thought not.   If you would, please PM and we can arrange payment soon.  I am also looking for a 1st print Dungeon Masters Guide in the same NM condition.

I've seen some people here get great deals on a woodgrain this year (more of those this year than Players Handbooks that are 1st prints and this nice condition) and I've seen some very high prices on some of the rare modules and Domesday books.  It's all in what the buyer wants.  I am only looking for these two books and someday I'd like to own a woodgrain when finances allow.  I don't balk at higher prices if I want the item in NM almost unused shape.  I gawked at the shrink wrapped Basic Set 1st print that went for over $500 but I realize that some people want that stuff and if they can afford it they'll go after it.  I'm late in the game here.  I just joined this site about 6 months ago and it's fun to see how happy you all are when you scored a deal, but for the most part unless you are trading with other members or scored on a low Buy It Now on eBay, the deals of the past are done.  At least I haven't seen any.  I've been outbid on a lot, and the prices keep going up on a lot of things; so either 1.) The values on the the Acaeum page are lower than current market value and need to be revised to reflect the current market, or 2.) I am looking in all the wrong places and not getting the deals everyone else is.  Either way, it's still fun collecting even if it feels like I missed out on what most of you have gotten.  I've only been seriously collecting for the past 2 years or so and when something nice like this in NM shape comes up, it ALWAYS sells high.

It all boils down to how much one wants to pay, and what condition they want the item in.
