We have downs and cities that have hundreds and even thousands of them. They use them instead of traffic lights. Tourists seem to have a problem deciding what to do without a light telling them what to do. They keep the traffic moving a lot faster than lights. On major junctions where they then introduce lights, they tend to f*ck things up and cause big tail backs until they take the lights away again. Go figure.

I live in Basingstoke in th UK, affectionately known as Doughnut city, due to the amount of roundabouts.. We even laid claim to the biggest in Europe which was just about 1 mile around, until about 10-15 years ago when it was restructured with a new supermarket being built.

It even had an open air swimming pool and large scrambling track for motorbikes. Unfortunately someone died on it and they werent found for a week...

They've now started putting lights on most of them and to be honest, I've found that with the amount of traffic at rush hours, it moves a hell of a lot quicker!

Hi,

I can trump that :lol:

Near us is a roundabout which is made up of smaller "satellite" roundabouts which encircle it.

The catch is, because of the smaller roundabouts, you can go either way round the big one.

Its a nightmare.

Sometimes I think UK councils have some sort of roundabout quota, which they have to build every year.

For no apparent reason a mini-roundabout has now appeared at the bottom of our street. Its only a painted circle on the road, plus a few signs warning drivers about it.

I can't find the URL or the link to the comments section, but a someone posted a comment on Time's entertainment site (http://www.time.com/time/specials/packa ... 60,00.html):

The entire interview is not on You Tube. You have to google it. At the end of the interview, Joaquin Phoenix shakes David's hand, and tells him "good job." It was an act. It's part of the documentary Casey Affleck is filming about Joaquin's career change.

So was it a put-on, a screw-up, or both?

Pretty sure the whole thing is a put-on....how could it not be? It would be interesting to see a mockumentary come out similar to This Is Spinal Tap.
