It's never worked for me on Kindle.
The PDF conversion creates a document that's simply too difficult to read, and Kindle's "zoom" feature is clunky.

What does work are apps like GoodReader or iBooks on an iPad.
The size of the tablet is much more conducive to the layout of rulebooks and modules.

If you don't want to shell out the $$ for a tablet, then I'd just recommend el-cheapo versions of the 1E books.

What is Black Friday?!  

They started calling it black friday because it was the busiest shopping day of the year. Now it's the busiest shopping day of the year because it's black friday. An over-hyped circus of broken promises and gladiatorial conflict with the victors getting enormous discounts on Christmas gifts for themselves. Apparently last year our local Best Buy gave out tickets for certain products while in line and people at the front immediately commenced to scalping them to those at the back.

Embarrassing.

Hey Mike,

This reason is correct.
Companies would get out of the red and into the black on their Financial Statements.

But with everyone waiting until days like these to even do shopping, I really don't think that applies anymore.

When you have kids you start to see the world differently.

Something I noticed while watching the TG day parade on TV with my daughter yesterday, who is in Kindergarten:

We're watching the parade. Cut to commercial. Commercial is for one of the myriad copy cat police "drama" shows, I don't remember which one. They are all the same. Anyway, we go from watching a Sesame Street float to watching a mortician pull the cover over a young woman's cold, pale corpse.

Next commercial break, another ad for another tired police type show: The scene-A murdered corpse lying on a tile floor with blood spattered around the head.

I turned the parade off after that, wondering what manner of senseless creep is in charge at these networks and what are they thinking? Do any of these people have children, and don't they have any sense of what is appropriate?

Same here.
I just TiVo everything and fast-forward through the bullshit.

The violence bothers me a lot around my kids.  
There is simply no need to expose them to that kind of gore.

There is no understanding in advertising circles that "less is more."

Glad I live in Texas, the "Castle Law" would have taken care of this one already.  Too bad if you are robbed by thieves who are young and attractive you better just get out of their way and give them what they want I guess.

'LITTLE FALLS, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota man charged with murder in the shootings of two teenagers he said broke into his home told investigators he was angered by one of the wounded teens who mocked him when his rifle jammed but that he fired more shots than necessary.

"If you're trying to shoot somebody and they laugh at you, you go again," Byron David Smith, 64, of Little Falls, told investigators, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday.

Smith was charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Haile Kifer, 18, and her cousin, Nicholas Schaeffel, 17, both of Little Falls. The teens were shot on Thanksgiving Day, but their deaths weren't reported until Friday.

In the complaint, Smith said he was in the basement of his remote home about 10 miles southwest of Little Falls when he heard a window breaking upstairs, followed by footsteps that eventually approached the basement stairwell. Fearful after several break-ins, according to the complaint, Smith said he fired when Schaeffel came into view from the waist down.

After the teen fell down the stairs, Smith said he shot him in the face as he lay on the floor.

"I want him dead," the complaint quoted Smith telling an investigator.

Smith said he dragged Schaeffel's body into his basement workshop, then sat back down on his chair, and after a few minutes Kifer began coming down the stairs. He said he shot her as soon as her hips appeared, and she fell down the steps.

Smith said he tried to shoot her again with his Mini 14 rifle, but that the gun jammed and Kifer laughed at him.

"Smith stated that it was not a very long laugh because she was already hurting," according to the complaint.

Smith said he then shot Kifer in the chest several times with a .22-caliber revolver, dragged her next to Schaeffel, and with her still gasping for air, fired a shot under her chin "up into the cranium."

"Smith described it as 'a good clean finishing shot,'" according to the compliant, but also that he acknowledged he had fired "more shots than (he) needed to.'


It sure is a good thing we're in Texas, where this stuff is all part of being a conservative Republican. The kids are laughing at you. They're all laughing at you. Shoot them again, it's just what any good conservative should do. Don't tell the police about it, the dying kids are now your property to torture for as long as you'd like. When the government tries to take away your fun, just say that they were burglars. This guy had 24 hours to fake a burglary, be creative. It's our right as lifelong conservative nutjobs.
