hey chaps!

sheesh i need to get on here more - just dont even get a chance these days.

am trying real hard just now to make arrangements with a number of things, juggling around the mongolian consulate arsing around over visas to go there, cos i am going via moscow for whatever reason - anyway under control methinks.

i "think" i am coming to the con. not 100% yet, but i think i am coming. as jeff is going, that swerved the possibility up a good 20% :)

anyway still working on funds to make it a possibility but its looking good.

Mike - as discussed on the phone this morning, can you get onto the hotel room situation for me please and register me up and whatever else i need to do - if there is a chance to get me in a few games, i would be ever so grateful - i would really like to play in Tims game if there is a possibility of that! i am also going to bring something totally off the cuff, no idea what yet, but i will DM something. i will just do it as a fill-in or something, so anyone who cant get in a game, can play along.

but its your call on that one. if you just want my help at the Con, then thats cool also, i dont mind.

one thing tho, whatever Tim is selling, i want, so if i am gonna fly 5000 miles to get there, sort it :D or you WILL be running across dallas, away from me :D

anyways i am selling some stuff so check out the classified thingies ....

hope i can pull things off, will be fantastic to get over there and catch up with everyone again.

hope to see you all soon !

very best,

Al

Are we nearly there yet?

Well you heard it...

Support Killjoy to the NTRPG Con by bidding on his items! Plus I think I'm going to convince Al to bring some goodies to the con to sell.

If you are looking for anything let Al know and he might have it and arrange a private sale.....if you check the classifieds he has Imagine magazines, RPGA tournaments, a copy of Hogunmark, some choice Judges Guild items, etc.

Tomorrow (May 15th) is the last day to register for NTRPG Con at the reduced rate. After tomorrow, it will be $30 instead of $20 to register for a full weekend at the con. Even if you are registered on the site, if you aren't registered for the con itself, you'll be charged the higher rate when you register after May 15th (and you have to be registered to play in any of the games)

I finally purchased NTRPG Con T-shirts today for sale at the con. After much soul searching, I only purchased 21 shirts, in several different colors, with about 1/3 XL and the rest XXXL.  The reason being shirts are pricey, and unless I bought 60+, there is really very little profit in it for me or the con so I didn't want to go into the hole buying lots of shirts.  Plus we only have 73 people registered, although I know many more may come, I don't want to be stuck with 40 shirts if they dont sell.

Shirts are $30, $35 for dark colors in XXXL (which cost me $5 more so there is really no extra profit there).  I have both my shirts from last year still going strong (a black and a stone green) and they are good quality, but do have a tendency to slightly shrink after numerous washings (which is why I didn't buy anything smaller than XL, as after a year a XL will be a Large, a XXXL a XXL, etc)

Anyone who wishes to pre-buy a shirt can email me and I will set aside a shirt for you to be picked up at the con. Below are the styles and the sizes, just let me know which you want, and it will be waiting for you with your registration packet. With only 21 shirts, they may go fast (last year I sold my 5 shirts I had bought to sell before the con even started!). If you want to reserve a shirt you need to paypal me the money (no tax) to badmike3@aol.com, use the "personal" setting so it doesn't cost me anything on the transaction. First come, first served...! Thanks!!!

Also a note if you aren't coming you can still buy a shirt from the "Swag" page on the NTRPG Con site. This sale is only open to those actually attending the con because I don't want to have to ship them.

If you haven't checked the NTRPG Con site in awhile, there has been a lot of last minute info. Chief among them is a planned Wed night BBQ (meeting at a local joint) for whoever is in town at that time; the addition of several new items for the free and paid raffles (including two of the new highly sought after Swords & Wizardry White Box sets); the news that the Staybridge Suites shuttle service WILL pick you up at the airport and bring you to the hotel (and vice versa I expect); and if you peruse the Event Registration list you will notice the events have slowly been filling up....if you haven't registered for something yet you might get busy as we only have one week until showtime!!!

Hello Attendees!

Doug has just heard from Jim Ward that he is not going to be able to come to NTRPGCon this year. He called Doug to let him know his doctor has told him to check into the hospital today.

Unfortunately not knowing more about the situation, we have to cancel Jim's two events, so if you are registered for those two spots (the Tainted Lands game on Friday and the Metamorphosis Alpha game on Saturday) you will be free to register for seminars or perhaps schedule pickup games in those time slots.

Our thoughts are with Jim and we hope his health issues are not too serious; hopefully we will see him at a future NTRPG Con.

Mike B.

Thanks for the info, Mike. I've passed this along to a few folks who may not see it here.

Sad to hear about Jim.  Hope it's nothing too serious.  :(

From Rob, about his games:

Rob Kuntz wrote:It's going to be a high level game, 11-12th level, and I will be previewing PCs pregenerated at the gate and adding/subtracting from there with some highlights and flourishes.

PCS get three starting magic items in addition to a plussed (+1 to +3 weapon, non-intelligent or special, just plain) 3 extra healing potions and one scroll each for spell-casters containing
2 additional spells. The ring or vampiric regeneration is nixed and not available

This is a a very dangerous dungeon and I will not be sparing the rod.

See you two at the con. Please pass this info along to all known participants if you have a chance.

Here at the hotel, sitting around talking D&D games of yore.  Prufrock, Killjoy, Smarmy, KingofPain and Flambeaux along with myself waiting for Blackmoor to arrive so we can get some BBQ.  Can't wait to get started!

I just came to the ugly conclusion that I not only have to pay Delta for one checked bag, but I need a second. $55 for what used to be free. Freaking vultures...
I better sell a bunch of these modules...

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

Welcome to the North Texas RPG Convention! The NTRPG Con focuses on old-school Dungeons & Dragons gaming (OD&D, 1E, 2E, or Basic/Expert) as well as any pre-1999 type of RPG produced by the classic gaming companies of the 70s and 80s (TSR, Chaosium, FGU, FASA, GDW, etc). We also support retro-clone or simulacrum type gaming that copies the old style of RPGs (Swords & Wizardry, Castles & Crusades, and others).

This year's convention dates are: Thursday June 3 @ 1600 until Sunday June 6 @ 1800.

Staybridge Suites 2220 Market Place Blvd.
Irving, TX  75063

For the whole con $30.00 at the door and/or $10.00 for a single day.

Ten dollars for a day pass to sneak up on Paul seems like a great deal ;)

Heather (my daughter out at BYU) is home for a short visit so I will probably end up over there Friday night for a couple of hours.  My wife did that as a father's day surprise for me.  Heather has to work then, so she is home a little early, even a better surprise ;)

See you there if you can make it.

//////////////////////////////////////////////

Paul left a number of friends in DFW when he left, and we all wish him well.  I'm hoping to get some together to surprise him.

Otherwise, I'll show up with two of my daughters and pay my thirty dollars ($10.00 each) and show them an old fashioned grognard con while my wife goes out to a dinner with her friends (whose dinner conversation is such that the husbands no longer go out with them -- they talk medical/nursing/CRNA shop).

Regards,

Stephen
