I'm looking at flight information from Chicago to Dallas, and I cannot seem to find a price cheaper than $325.00 round trip at the moment (I can fly from either O'Hare or Midway...).

Is there any cheaper flights out there, or should I just suck it up and get the ticket now?    :D

United - FLT 7680 ORD to DFW @ 09:45 arrives at 12:05

Return

United - FLT 7616 DFW to ORD @ 19:56 arrives at 22:15

Cost was $269.20 on 03/05/09

Though the reason for the $300.00 raffle for out of towners is because I figured it be about $300.00

I have a VERY preliminary schedule of events.  I haven't heard back from Frank yet, but I decided to post just to give you sort of a taste of what's to come.  Registration will start in about two weeks.....

As you can see Saturday night should be interesting, with Frank, Tim and Rob all running games.  So if you don't get the spot you want, you still won't be disappointed!

A couple of things to remember:  The spots will be first come, first served, EXCEPT if you are running a scheduled game, you will move to the top of the list and basically get the spot you want (a reward for running a game when you might be going up against one of the Big Three!).
If you want a game and that game is full, I will let you know immediately, or automatically register you for another event happening at the same time, just so you won't lose a spot.  The key is to remain flexible, there will be a lot of great events going on so you may have to make some tough choices.  You might even number your choices #1, #2, #3 for a slot.
A few notes: Tim is running the same scenario both Friday and Saturday night, so you won't want to play in both. He also is going to have some cool cert sheets for your character that you can keep, showing you played in his game.  Rob's game will be a real old school crawl...it will go LATE both nights, perhaps past midnight, so be prepared!!!  He is running the same dungeon (Castle El Raja Key) but if you play Friday night, you may be able to bring the same charaacter back Saturday night, we haven't decided how to work that yet. We may just have an entire new group of players so as many as possible get a chance to experience the classic ERK dungeon!
Besides the "official" scheduled games, there will be some pickup games.  Some pickup games may turn into scheduled games if we have a cancellation.  If you have a game you want to run, first let me know.  You can also announce it on the NTRPG forum and see if you can drum up a little interest.  There may be some people that register late, or walk in, that won't be able to get into a game...or I may be overestimated the amount of people there, and there will be spots open.  As I said, flexibility!

Yeh I just saw Lance has registered, very nice. Lance is the author of many RPG items including The Bonegarden, Raise the Dead, Lamentation of Thieves and Dead Man's Chest from Necromancer Games.  I know he has also written for Dungeon magazine and is a published author (like, real books).

hey chaps!

gonna speak to mike this week when i get a chance. it "might" be a possibility that i will be able to come over for this deal. just got to see if i can work the finances out to see if its a go-er or not :)

i will know before i speak to mike, then can work out the rest from there. i will have very little in the way of funds to buy anything sadly, but it will just be nice to come see you guys again.

i see the schedule is full n stuff gaming wise, but i will knock something together and bring it with me, just in case you guys want to play a game. would be very cool this time if i could get frank AND tim to join in, but hey we shall see etc. i have a few good ideas so we shall see what i can come up with.

i will bring my DM copy of tegel along for y'all to have a looksee, as it has stuff in thats not in the other copies.

best

Al

I hope it all works out.  Just think of the good training you can get in for the Sahara run, you will probably see temps in the high 90s during that week and that will be a "warm up" for the real thing!

Hey Mike, I talked to Doug on the phone Friday night about the later Sunday session. I was planning on staying through the end of the con, whenever that ended up being. I'll probably just stay over and leave Monday morning.

So, count on me running a game for the late session on Sunday for anyone sticking around that wants one last game.

I'll bring the Vault (and the Iron Crypt), but I may swap that out for something else.  There's another Paul Jaquays addy that's kind of piqued my interest since pulling out The Lost Temple.  The event specs would be about the same (AD&D, 10th level PCs provided, 6 to 8 (or so) players).

Looking forward to this gathering!

Jon

Jon;

Yes he told me, that's great. I just listed the Vault because I thought you might be tired of running Iron Crypt, but either that or a PJ adventure would be fine.  Paul sure had a lot of cool stuff, didn't he?  :D

Any chance that Goodman Games is coming and will be selling their tournament module?  Or perhaps a copy with the North Texas RPG logo?  By the sounds of the size and knowing who might be there, I would think they could sell 100 copies.

If so, someone put me down for 3!

Here is the latest from Goodman Games, they will NOT be attending, but will send a couple of items for the free raffle.

From:        Joseph Goodman <joseph@goodman-games.com>
To:        Doug Rhea <DougRhea@northtexasrpgcon.com>
Cc:        Harley Stroh <harley@goodman-games.com>
Date:        2009/04/18 17:47
Subject:        Re: North Texas RPG Con

Hi Doug,

This convention looks like fun. We have Points of Light and Random Esoteric Creature Generator in our current lineup, and both of them may be of interest to your audience. Would they make suitable items for your auction?

Thanks,
Joseph

I'd be kind of surprised if Goodman Games made an official appearance - they have about a half dozen other cons that they visit during the year - but I've been chatting up the con with Harley Stroh to try to get him to come, too.

And as for a special module with the con logo on it - now that's just too cool of an idea.
