So Wavemotion sucks because he is polite, temperate and articulate?

*Wavemotion* didn't strike me as evangelical, just someone who's enthusiastic about his work.  And few personality types turn me off more quickly than "the evangelical".

I'm a little surprised by the anger to some of his posts.  Wasn't he just trying to get feedback on his own site's ranking of RPG material?
Or maybe I'm missing something.  I usually am.

Having said that, it's unclear how much RPG collectors can glean from a poll where the voters include RPGamers, wargamers, card gamers, etc.

Since, as Mark Twain said, there are lies, damn lies and statistics, maybe the poll question should be rephrased to only include D&D material, or TSR products, or something to that affect.  
Just a thought.

It was Dave's passion and civility that convinced me to take a look and join RPGG.

I'm looking forward to reading Delta Green, and may check the site for reviews on books based on rpg's. Yeah! Cheers!

I think Wave' comes accross clearly and he's got a passion for what he does, but I don't get his  motivation. He doesn't seem to have a financial stake in seeing RPGG increase its membership, and he seems to have no real expertise or interest in bettering the quality of the site. So I don't really get the point of why he bangs the drum.

I don't think it's 'evangelical' and it doesn't come accross that way, but I think he's misguided in that he can't see the flaws in the membership or the crap that's posted on the site (threads and data).

To me, it seems more like early love, love being blind and all that. It's that level of faith and blindness to flaw that he seems to possess. His boss must be one great guy. LOL!

Just had a thought about the whole RPGG thing.. Any thoughts on what the worse 1e TSR item would be?

A module perhaps. Unearthed Arcana....??

Great guess... but not the lowest ranked.

I'll give you a hint, the lowest ranked 1e or earlier product still has twice the actual numerical rating of F.A.T.A.L.

That's correct!  Ranked at #2080. There may be worse TSR products - but they don't have enough votes yet to be ranked.

1e Unearthed Arcana currently sits at #431. It's on a downward trend as it got a large number of votes (thus overcoming the Bayesian averaging) but as more and more items get rated it's not holding up.
