Maybe he just has a 'Mint' in the box. Nothing like a little candy to help sales.

Is that a photocopy of the Greyhawk and Underworld booklets or are they just missing the covers?

I think they are originals missing covers, though in some pictures it looks like the covers are there, but face open under the pages shown (separated).
I suspect they are from one of the first three printings of the OD&D Box Set, maybe even a first rpint.

Below is one small notation that caught my attention, in the sellers description.
1 PAMPHLET CASTLE & CRUSADE SOCIETY TACTICAL STUDIES RULES EDITOR 1973

This note makes me think there may be true rare gold in that lot of crappy looking stuff and if I were to win that lot, there is no question I would ask the seller to send that binder of papers (not pictured) with the rest.
(upon request seller will send it, otherwise not...)

Only 7 hours left and a hair over $40 at the moment.
But if that note tells me what I think it does this lot COULD be a true steal at 100 times that amount.
If I am mistaken, then perhaps this lot is already overpriced.
Huge gamble at this point since I never wrote the seller for more info, or pictures, which I suspect seller would have gladly provided upon request.
I would bet good money; however, that some members of this site made that happen several days ago.

Good hunting folks...

My guess is that is simply the coverless Men & Magic shown in the auction photos. It's not mentioned elsewhere in the auction listing, and the Preface of Men & Magic on page 3 is dated 1973, mentions the Castle & Crusade Society and is signed "Tactical Studies Rules Editor".

I like the new Auction Hunter bot in the Classifieds.  Great idea, Scott.

$588.00

8O

That's a new record high price for a Holmes Box in shrink. Here are the other recent ones I have in my records (which are not complete), now renumbered 2-5:

2) SW 1st print (F115-R code, Lizard Logo) owned by Brian Blume - ~$500 - GenCon 2009 - has a blank box bottom (could be a "true 1st").
3) SW 3rd print (Lizard Logo) - owned by Gygax - $331.05 - Jun 2011
4) SW 7th? print (Wizard Logo) - Collector's Trove personal auction - $315 - Mar 2012
5) SW 4th+ print (Wizard Logo) - owned by Gygax - $308.25 - Mar 2011

Wow, seller's got to be happy about that!

It's incredible that there are some of these 1st prints in the original shrink, though I'm still of the opinion that the blank box bottom version is the real 1st print of the Holmes set, and I'm not sure those came in shrink.

No idea how rare or sought-after the AD&D model kits from MPC are, but I haven't seen one before:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

The seller also has some AD&D action figures up.
