I might need someone in the UK to help me out with acquiring some collectors cards Sept 20th.  If anyone is able to do so PM for details.

Good point. Let's talk about the Clint Eastwood speech.

You probably don't know that RPG author Michael Curtis is an archivist.

Hey everyone,

I heard that in Texas high school football is considered king.

I have to say that this was impressive.

Best regards,
Ronald

Hi,

heard today that American TV is only showing 4 hours total of highlights of the Paralympics.

Thats not true, is it?

If so, that sucks bigtime.

Cheers,
KAl

Honestly I'm surprised they are even showing that much. I'm sure NBC was sweating the loss of advertising dollars when most stations during the next few weeks will be debuting brand new programming.

Interest is so low as to be virtually non-existent, and American television relies on advertisers (unlike countries like the UK, China, Japan and Korea which have public channels and are not as advertiser driven).

Take it as you will but Fox News has been one of the biggest voices of criticism about the low US coverage of the Paralympics.

Four hours?  Whoa!   8O

That is practically a showcase event.  I would have expected a five second mention on local news.

Hi,

um. thats really disappointing.

I suppose it explains the slightly dismal standings of the USA in the Para Medals table, even tho your athletes have access to some of the best equipment in the world.

Went to some of the athletics on Sunday.

Saw the race where the Bladerunner (oscar pistorius) lost - sore loser.

Evening closed on David Weir of para GB picking up a gold in the wheelchair 5000.  Was a fantastic finish.

Cheers,
KAL

From today's (9/6) New York Times Daily Crossword in The Seattle Times:

4 Down (3 boxes): Original Dungeons & Dragons co.

and

46 Down (3 boxes): Young Skywalker, informally

Nice to see some geek topics in crossword form! Puzzle number is 0802 in case you want to tackle this one yourself.

And 200 posts.

Every single one banal and almost all of them off-topic.

Officially that's the longest I ever stayed around any forum. I feel sorry for you all.

Anyone else notice that the Classifieds boards are overrun with automated Ebay posts belonging to Acaeum members?

You're behind the times. Most of us are now using applets to populate internet forms with data automatically, including all the texts of our posts. For instance, I have my preferences set to generate posts with:
-bittersweet nostalgia.
-cranky political reactions.
-an egotistic need for validation.
When another 'bot generates a reply to my 'bot's posts, I have the Indignant Defensiveness setting at 9.6 (out of 10). Entire flamewars can now happen without myself or the other person ever having to be aware of it - the 'bots take care of it all. (Dragonsfoot re-sets this preference to 10.0 when you log in, so be sure & check it before filling out job applications.)
I use the freeware version, so the texts of my posts are interjected with endorsements from commercial sponsors 60% OFF WOMENS UNDERGARMENTS WARHAMMER D&D DICEBAG ACT NOW!!!!
Meanwhile I'm outside getting some fresh air & exercise & quality time with friends. You should try it.
