If the Rangers sign Lee for more than $100 million that is insane...let the Yanks overpay for him. He lost the most important two games of the season (World Series) and was only 3-2 in the playoffs. He has a couple of years left and already has a history of back trouble...6 years at 23 mill? LOL. Greinke is a better, younger pitcher and will come cheaper (prospects, which the Rangers have tons of due to the #3 farm system in the majors) and the Rangers are reportedly looking there. Seriously I will be disappointed if the Rangers do anything but drive up the price for the Yanks, we already got stuck with A-Fraud for $250 mill and he was a joke. Not to mention Nolan is working on Pettitte who would be a nice pitcher for a #4 or #5 spot.

Badmike - It's going to be okay. I believe that was Bargaining, so I think the next stage is Acceptance.

Seriously though, as far as A-Rod-- yes, he really is a first class tool. But he's a really good baseball player. Everybody hates him but he puts up big numbers every year.

....except for the playoffs. And one ring. He'll be the most over-rated Hall of Famer in history. He piled up most of his big numbers here in Texas at the end of the season, long after the team was out of contention, when he swung at everything in sight to pad his numbers. The fact he's making 27 mill a year and a class act like Jeter is making 16 mill a year is sick. I only hope injury takes him out before he gets close to Hank Aaron's record.

I think you can now get a poster of him striking out vs Feliz for the last out in the 2010 ALCS. They are selling like hotcakes :lol:

badmike here are arod's splits while he played for texas

2001 1st half .310 ba .397 ob .596 slg 2nd half .328 ba .401 ob .652 slg

2002 1st half .305 ba .401 ob .607 slg 2nd half .294 ba .381 ob .642 slg

2003 1st half .285 ba .373 ob .544 slg 2nd half .317 ba .427 ob .679 slg

as to his having one ring, what i will never understand is why he went to the yankees and agreed to move to third base when he was a b-/c+ defensive shortstop and jeter is a c-/d+ defensive shortstop. if he had signed with boston instead he would have hit 613 homers (or probably many more given how tough yankee stadium is for righties to hit homers in) as a shortstop and won several titles....

Thanks Bill the split stats sort of prove the point....always started out slow out the gate, then turned it on once the team was completely out of it. IIRC his rbi total and clutch hitting was pretty abysmal in crunch time (something that continued on the Yankees until the 2009 season). It seemed like every time I watched him in those years he was striking out or grounding out with a man on base, or swinging for the fences any game after July.

From what I understand, AFraud always wanted to go to the Yankees and never really wanted to go to Texas except they over paid the next highest bidder by $150 million dollars and Boras begged him to take the offer. I wonder if he'd have ever agreed to Boston under the same circumstances.

An entirely OT, OT... But by all accounts its good to share.. So, with my job review outcome now being postponed until January for a final decision :evil:

, I may well be selling the little bit of not much collection (or handing it around for those who want it) as my wife has seemingly gone mental and after telling me a couple of weeks ago that she is leaving, is now trying to f*ck me over on everything.

Apparently, as I have now asked that we sell the house, it is I who has "f*cked the family" by doing so, as it was comfortable in the current arrangement (in her mind), with us living as friends in the same place.

Not sure about you guys, but I've found it pretty darn tough to live with someone who clearly no longer wants to be with you and contributes less than a 1/3 to the house bills.

Still, my fault now, so I'm sure she feels better...

Apologies for this post, but just getting it out there to some guys who aren't in my locality helps give me some space.

Alot of ballplayers aspire to play for the Yankees because of the prestige factor. Love or hate them, they are the most storied franchise in baseball and it means something to put on those pinstripes.

But I'm betting with A-Rod it was mostly because NY could ultimately offer him the most money. (Which is the OTHER reason players like the Yankees)

Plus, a guy like A-Rod wants that NYC star treatment you get as a big time athlete there. Going to all the clubs downtown and rubbing shoulders with all the hot entertainers and politicians and gangsters and such. I can see how an egotistical moron like him would be really attracted to all that.

Sorry to hear that, Ashmire.

Best advice for a bad situation - maintain your dignity and be as kind as possible to your ex and your kids, even as you go through the pain of selling off the house.

Luckily my wife seems to still want to be with me as I contribute far less than 1/3 to the house bills (about 1/4).

But seriously, I hope this works out. Formcritic is right, take the high road. My wife did it during her divorce to her first husband, and it paid many dividends with her kids, family and friends.
