Any interesting rares this year?

Not really.  There are some Tac Cards, one daystar west (Pharoh, I believe), Dragon #1, and King of Kings ( boxset, I never heard of this but it has wonderful old school art on the box.)

I will post pics sometime Sunday.

Down the end of the table, near Frank, is that the same Catholic priest gamer who attended NTRPGCon?

What is his name?

I think his online name is Greywolf, but don't quote me on that.

Hmmm, apparently the auction is already done, or something:  my proxy said it's all over already!

Okay, it's late but I want to post to give you guys some sense of what it was like to be at the Gary Gygax Auction.

First of all,  it was crowded.  You could sense that people were there to get a piece of Gary (so to speak).  Gail Gygax got up and addressed the crowd for less than a minute - thanking them for showing up.  Tim and Harold Johnson did the auctioneering.

I do not think anything listed went for under $50.  Jeff (Blackmoor) grabbed the AEG KOTD #3 for $80.  Next up was the #2 and Jeff and I battled back and forth (Tim making fun of us) and I won the piece at $100.  Bidding was frenzied at times with people jus shouting out bids.  Harold and Tim did little auctioneering in regards to price.  Most bids started at $30 but quickly escalated.

Frank nailed the Warriors of Mars for around $450.  THe business card also went for a good amount (Sorry forgot).  All modules went for no less than $50 with many going over $100.

One of Gary's T-shirts came up for auction and Stratochamp and Malc's wife got into a bidding war for it.  Malc's wife won with a final bid of $180.  Bidding actually went to $200 where both pulled down their cards.  Both refused to go to $200.  Tim tried for about a full minute to get one of them to put up their card but both refused.  Tim took the bidding down to $180 where Karen raised her card.  It was a lot of fun to watch.

Gary's Briefcase went for $1500.  I do not know who got it.   Inside was and exhibitor card from 1982 (I think) and some small knick-knacks.

I must apologize to my friends here on the Acaeum that could not attend, I forgot to take pics of this auction.  I think Bracton may have, so there may be pics yet.  Things got rolling so fast that I just plain forgot.

The company True Adventures sent a (Fake) check over to the auction stating they had raised $9000 for the Memorial.  Of course we do not  know how much the auction raised but it was several thousands of dollars.

It was a once in a lifetime event.  I'm very sorry you all could not attend.  I count myself very lucky to be able to attend this historic auction.

Thanks for the update Martin, it sounded like a great place to be.

$1500 for the actual EGG briefcase, with goodies, doesnt seem so bad to me... I take it there was a woodgrain inside?

I'll quote you if I want to, JG.

And yes, that's Greywolf.  Fun to look at these pictures and think "Hey!  I kind of know that person!"  Am envious of you all.
