I got to rambling and failed to mention a few points:

• Huzzah for grodog! I'm 100% behind him as money-holder.

• I don't care in the least which number of the print I get. This baby will go on the wall in my studio.

• I like the compositional ideas that have been offered, as well as including "Acaeum" someplace in the artwork.

Well if this falls through with EO then why not ask other artists if they would be interested?

Adding, "hermit from pluto" for one copy to the list.  He's away from home, but asked for his name to be added.

Put me down for another (making two total).

As for which number/s I receive, don't really mind'

One option on deciding numbered copies is at the next meeting of the Acaeum Texas Mafia (or next meeting of a number of acauem members) have them draw names out of a hat, or roll dice to see who gets which number. Dice rolling would be best and their would be witnesses.

We just might hit the 50 copies target.  Limiting it to 2 copies was brilliant (and the right thing to do).  Now many of those who wanted 1 will want the limit of 2.

Pulling numbers out of a hat or rolling for which numbered print you get is fine with me.  Also this could be done at the Acaeum dinner at Gencon 2009.  Would have many witnesses.

Just took a look at DCC #6 which I believe has been proposed as a template for the kind of art work we want, absolutely fantastic.  Gives me an art boner!  Of course, now I'm stuck at work with a boner.

If the price remains in the range of $50-75 I would sign up for one copy of an Erol Otis original print.
I would purchase TWO if need be, but if not, then ONE will do it for me.

I could not care less what the number is.
As long as its one of the signed numbered original prints as is being discused here.

We now have 48 requests! 8O  Please, do not stop requesting.  The committee has yet to finalize what happens to this request list.  Plus, somebody will more than likely drop out so we need a waiting list ready. Thank you. 8)

The EO Committee has decided to communicate with everyone as openly as possible through this thread.  In return, we'd prefer your interaction with us to be transparent as well.  If you have an idea, recommendation, thought or whatever, register it here.  Let's keep PM's to a minimum.  I will do my best to read each entry submitted.

The EO Committee will make decisions and report the thread as often as possible, but we will not report meeting details or who voted for what.  We may keep some decisions secret, but those will be at our discretion and rare.  The committee reserves the right to change any decision.  For those who don't know, the committee is myself, grodog, badmike and PaulKM.

The EO Committee has decided to limit each person to one (1) copy.  However, if we do not have 50 separate individuals who want a copy, the remaining copies will be offered to those individuals who requested two copies first until all 50 are sold.  We prefer for as many people to have a copy who want one. There will be a cut off date set but that date has not yet been determined.

The EO Committee is currently researching several matters which might take a week or longer to determine including printing methods, shipping methods and even the artist's availability and/or interest.  There will be an additional shipping charge for overseas shipments, but it's unclear if a shipping charge will be necessary for state-side orders or how much any of that will be.

The EO Committee has decided that any money left over will be given to the Acaeum, so Scott can continue to provide an ad free site.  The committee is not interested in gouging anyone or profiteering, and we will do our best to work within our budget.

Just in case you don't get a PM before the cutoff time, Deogolf is in for one, or you can assign my second one to him.

I scanned through the thread but didn't see this answered definitively:
were we planning on having the artwork incorporated into the website in addition to the prints we get?

If so, I was wondering whether this would be used on just on the Acaeum root page and/or on the headers for every page.  Layout-wise, I could see the project preliminaries needing to go back and forth with Erol several times before the final is done.  I think we should factor in this extra cost, just in case. (Perhaps a couple hundred dollars for the prelim's?)

And of course, as someone else mentioned, we'd need to have the Acaeum's exclusive use of the image legally specified (in perpetuity?) since this would fall into reproduction rights.

I like what everyone's suggestions are on the layout.  The only concept I would put forward would be that the artwork tells a little story. Perhaps melding it into the site's use a little more.

Just brainstorming here...the aforementioned party "ventures into bowels of the Acaeum to quench their thirst for knowledge and seize the holy grail(s) of collecting."

Could they be fighting off a dragon as someone suggested or some other beast? Sure I'd love it. Perhaps a contingent of charlatan creatures invading the Acaeum (Brian..any suggestions?) :)

Mike.
