It would be of great benefit to have a screen that shows the number of watchers and views as well as bidders. Currently you have to view the auction details page to get the watchers and by doing this a view is added to the view count. Kind of like quantum physics, the very act of observation changes the result.

I'm about to put up an auction on eBay for a copy of DG Eyes Only. It ought to attract some attention. The purpose is to get some attention for RPGMP. Anyone got any clever suggestions as to how I can get a link into the eBay item description without breaching their terms? I thought of things like, "Please see this page for full item description", but it seems a bit lame.

Also, would be useful if a default currency could be set - just to speed up the listing process a touch. When you have hundreds of items to get listed every few seconds makes a difference.

I know, I know, I'm a very undemanding person but I can't help it!

Is there any way to set default ONLINE payment methods? Currently I have to select these for each and every listing.

When saving a draft, is this persistent? In other words, can I use drafts like I would use Inventory in Turbo Lister? Drafts don't get deleted after 30 days, or anything like that? Is there a limit to the number of drafts I can save?

I don't know about ebay, but definitely post that on Yog-sothoth.com. As a matter of fact Megnelwil, you should be linking all your auctions at rpgmp to Yog-sothoth...you have been putting up some really nice CoC stuff, and that is the premiere CoC collecting site on the net.

Erm... I got the shite kicked out of me last time I did that. Apparently people who re-sell this book are evil personified. What we've done is deprive 'real collectors' of getting their hands on it. Despite the fact they had weeks to pre-order and weeks to buy direct from Arc and Chaosium. Whilst commerce is a good thing, the one exception is Cthulhu - apparently. The 1,000 print run is now our fault Mike. Even Pagan weighed in to bleat their innocence and condemn the 'scalpers' (post profit, of course). My intention had been to sell these books at a much lower price than could be had on eBay. Following the hysteria on Yog (no reflection on Paul of course, Yog is a super site after all) I decided, screw them - let them taste the real world for a change. Worth taking a look at what went on. Then you can have a laugh at the irony of the 'bidding war' that broke out on the copy I was trying to get rid of on the cheap. Ah well, such is life. Obvioulsy I don't take it too seriously but a bitch-fest is a bitch fest nonetheless. So I'm keeping my head down for a while.

megnelwil: even if I was a Genie, you only get 3 wishes... you are way over quota  :)

Ok, let's see if I can help some...

MOST things like Payment type, you can set in your "Prefilled" area...

go to the "Members Area", click on the "Selling" icon, look under teh first row of menu options below "About Me / My Store",  click the "Prefilled Fields" menu option. You should be able to setup the following for your account:

Duration
Private
Accept Swap Offers
Shipping COnditions
Postage
Insurance
Ship/Payment details
Ship method
Offline Payment Types
Return Policy
Accept Public Questions
New bid Email Notifications...

Now you might be speaking of the standard Payment types vs. the Offline Payment types... and I don't see that in the list... so I'll mention it to the devs.

As to the "Search Box" in the categories area... I bet if I look through the PHP code in the site themes I can either make it default to the Basic or move the whole thing to the bottom .... I am not the coder... (Cobol, Quick Basic, Pascal .. maybe) ... but let me seee what I can find

Bulk lister is all we have for posting... I could send you over a copy of the MySQL database so you can see how the data is stored, linked etc... then if you want to write an import script, then anyone could create a CVS file and email it over, and I could run the script to import large lists of items... but outside of that ...

Watchers, Views & Bidders ... I submitted this to the DEVs

Your drafts should be there until you delete them.. no limit that I am aware of

Quick Basic

Hey! You're the other guy who used it! Wasn't it the coolest language and interface ever? Or is that nostalgia blinding me again?

Yes, it was the standard payment methods I was talking about.

Happy to see the MySQL table defs so I could knock together an upload script.

Great, thanks for submitting the requests to the devs. They're loving us now.

What, only 3 wishes? An old fashioned genie? Modern, consumer focused genies let you go into as much debt as you want! Before they pull the magic carpet out from under you anyway.

Cheers Doug. Still listing, still liable to bug you with little or no notice :-)

Ok, I fixed the Advanced Search in the Categories:

$advanced_search = ($_REQUEST['advanced_search'] == '') ? 0 : intval($_REQUEST['advanced_search']);

That '0' zero was a 1 (the devs said change it to a 2.. but that didn't work.. so it's a 0 now and it's the Basic by default ...

Unfortunately this is not currently possible.

However, it would be possible for us in future updates to add these to the prefilled fields section.

Also doable, again as part of an update to prefilled fields.

Hi Doug,

This is actually something a number of clients have raised as a future change, therefore it is something we are keen to introduce, time allowing to accompany V6.04.

Oh, yeh, I forgot that whine fest.  Actually they had months, not weeks, to pre order the item, not to mention weeks AFTERWARDS while Chaosium had copies in their store...but who is counting. You would figure CoC collectors would realize the worth of somthing with a limited print run, put out by Pagan no less. Oh well.

My opinion, but I think the category listings are much more effective now. Thanks Doug. And you got the devs working too! Can't ask for more than that.

I sold a copy on RPGMP a couple of days ago for £20. It had been up for 2 weeks. 1 bidder, good for him. Looks like the 'real collectors' had an open and shut case after all. Anyway, water, bridges and all that.

If you'll take a few min to learn the Bul Lister it's not that hard to use...

I used it to import all my eBay listings originally...

If you have a bunch of listing in the eBay Turbo Lister, you can easily export them to a CSV file... then you import them into the Bulklister...

From there, you can set many of the default options like currency, payment type etc.. that are not available on the site directly.

Then I posted them one at a time since I needed to edit out some of the eBay references and stuff...

When you install the Bulklister, you at least need to get the "updates" from the site so you have all the categories as only the ones that were on the sire at the time I compiled the Bulklister will be in the software (until I recompile it)

Doug

I'll take another look at it. Trouble is, I'm trying to find a way to list all my stuff without having to do anything at all. Don't see why magic of some sort can't be offered as an optional extra, seeing this is an RPG site - I'd pay!

Another quick one, on search results pages, only the first BUY NOW button is click-able - all the rest are dead.
