And kudos to the TSR packaging & layout department, that made a 6-boxed display to show off 4 packs of monster cards. Genius!

Meh. I suspect they just used a standard box size and had it tripped out to their specs. Cheaper that way.

Kara-Tur boxed set.  Box is in nice condition, contents are complete and beautiful.  As a bonus, came with the Kara-Tur Trail Map.

In my early days of eBaying ('99 or '00), I didn't know about running up bids.  So I ended up paying way too much for a Kara-Tur Trail Map in the shrink.  A little happy karmic payback getting it as an extra today!  :)

This little item was hard to find! I finally ran across one.

I'd love to know what was on the tape if anyone has one open!!  :D

Nice find! I have an extra notepad from that set but not an open cassette. I would like to hear it also.

Of course. :) We've seen (and done, sigh) lots of Frankenstein sets. We know that multiple 'printings' of OD&D LBBs sat there in boxes and got grabbed for sets (by Tim K and others) regardless of consistency... doubtless with aforethought to set up this situation 40+ years later. (Gamers, sheesh...) Yeah yeah, they didn't care, never imagined anybody would notice. (But then they changed the world.)

Do you have any further memories on when B2 was completed, and then when it was actually printed? The Library of Congress has a copyright registration date of July 2nd, 1980 but that could just be when it was registered rather than available.

Alas, no. Just that some time early in my employment, the B2 ms landed on my editor's desk. I do think Legal sent in the reg asap once a product was completed, and I know they felt exposed if it wasn't filed before Shipments began.

Best guess, shipped in late June '80 (after LoC received it for processing but before shipping).

footnote: Mentioned this to Erol at GHole. He started in mid/late '79, thinks his back cover art was late '79 or early '80, unsure... but that dovetails.
Since it's *cover* art, size & theme are easy and predetermined (even with only a Title and no ms). Interiors got done after a dummy Layout, which was after my editing (etc.).
