Not to be disrespectful, but I usually if I buy a gaming book say a module. I want to use it.
I can understand collecting. I collect thing too.
But I honestly don't know if I wanted AD&D modules what would be a good option to get some.
I do have "pdf's' and while that is great I can't take my laptop with me and it's to much of a hassle for my group.
Where or what would you look for?

What prices did most original modules sell for $10 or $20?
I usually couldn't spend more then 15 on one.

The above is more into what I would actually buy to use, I am not spending 40 dollars on a module even box sets. I got my dragon mountain for I believe 12 Dollars.
Shipping is a factor too.
Honestly due to many things I don't get to spend money or come across gamebooks often.

What books or sorts of things should I look for? How do the Silver anniversary TSR modules go?

Prices are all over the place. I suggest you do some research on eBay for what interests you. It's easy enough to do. Simply log in to your eBay account, type in a couple of key words of the title that interests you in the search box, and then click on the little check-box on the left-hand side of the screen that says "sold listings." You may have to scroll down a little to see that check box. Then, eBay will show you, for the past thirty days, the sale prices of items which contain the key words you entered. What things have actually sold for are the best indicator of what you could expect to pay for a particular item. Of course, you will also notice how prices vary greatly depending on things like an item's condition, the amount charged for postage, a seller's reputation, and more. Good luck!

The price I paid was pretty steep, especially as a lot and I doubt any re-sellers would have bid so much.
Shipping was reduced a good bit from what was listed.... so I saved about $10 there...

This lot included the following items - I added what I think the values would be if sold individually on e-Bay:
SWed Chainmail Near Mint - $150 (see note below)
(this is my first SWed copy of Chainmail and I would not sell it for $150, even though I think with patience, you could probably find one for less)
A second copy of Chainmail Fine to VF - $50
Complete Box Set OCE (Box is in good condition; Books VF - NM: Reference Sheets VG - Fine) - $200 plus (based on recent sales, not the Acaeum's suggested price table)
Another set of the Three volumes from the 5th Print (Hobbits/Ents still there) white box set (no Ref Sheets, no box) the Vol. One Men and Magic book cover is separated from the book) - $50 (+/-)
All five Supplements all VF-NM - $175

While it was nowhere close to being a great deal (especially with it being a Lot Purchase) I do not think I overpaid for these items and I am happy with the purchase.
I will keep the SWed Chainmail (and perhaps one or two other things) but I will be reselling most of these items separately soon.

My question is, why would a person spend 5+ minutes racking up dozens of bids? Is this an auction strategy? If so, to what gain?

Two possibilities:

1. They're trying to inflate the number of bids, which will make the auction a hot/popular auction, which might get it featured somewhere.
2. They're idiots.

Areas of interest/knowledge: Harn, WFRP, Ars Magica, anything BRP based such as CoC, Runequest, Pendragon and all their related games

The real question is how can you do that by raising your bid by 1 cent only?!?
