Hi,

right, flights all booked. Having to come in thurs lunchtime, as its $600 cheaper than the night before, and Malc would rather spend it in the auction! :twisted:

Hi,

hmmm... well, I looked up CST and was assured it is 7 hours ahead of current UK time.

So why the the Con booking open up only 6 hours ahead of us? Is there a daylight savings somewhere or something?

As it happens, I woke up at 6:10 and thought "I'll just pop the pc on ready for 7.00 am".

Only missed out on 1 event I wanted tho - Badmikes game

Sorry Karen....the B1 game filled up so fast I had 12 players at one time. We had to kick out Smarmy (thank God).

Doug is working with it now. We had a brief outage. And yes there is an hours difference due to daylight's saving time. Good thing you got up early!

Let me know if you have any problems, the site is up and running now,a nd we are in chat if you need help.

The registration process last night/this morning was quite exciting with plenty of people in the chat waiting for registration 'Go Live'. There were so many awesome games and DM's to choose from this year, it was really difficult deciding. To add to the excitement (self-induced of course), I managed to nearly complete the registration process and failed to click the 'Check Out' button resulting in all my game selections being dumped so I had to start over.

No problems though. Also, I managed to register for Mike's B1 game beyond the spaces allotted so Mike had the distinct pleasure of being able to boot me from his session. (I will be avenged.

It was really more of a health department issue than anything. Also, Smarmy's ankle monitor bracelet kept going off while we were gaming last time.

To Doug's credit he found the issue and corrected it almost immediately. The only other game with this issue with Erol Otus' game, and I really feel sorry for those that had to give that one up. By comparison, missing out on my B1 game is like missing out on catching crabs from a toilet seat. But seriously, I'm really pumped that once again my B1 game was the first game filled out of all the spectacular games we have available at the con. It just goes to show the love the players have for the classic modules of our youth!

1) You getting drunk on boilermakers before the first hour was up.
2) Taking your pants off because of your "swamp rot".
3) Yelling at the serving wench every ten minutes to have her come "pull your finger". Except it wasnt your finger you wanted her to pull.
4) Making players do shots of tequila every time some rolled a natural 20, a 1, or an even number on the percentage dice.
5) And last but not least, passing out in Jason Braun's lap at the IHOP after eating two Rooty Tooty Fresh & Fruity plates and laughing about the word "tooty" the whole time.

Once again this year the NTRPG con will hold a charity game, with the proceeds going to a very worthy children's charity (Variety Texas). Last year we raised several hundred dollars for special needs kids, and we are going to do the same this year. The game will be Thursday from 2 to 6 pm, observers are welcome for a small fee!

We've changed the bidding up a bit this year. In 2012, there will be more spaces available (five), some of them during the game itself. There will be one seat available during the entire game by being the high bidder on RPG Marketplace (link below), the high bidder getting a seat at the table with our all-star cast of players (Frank Mentzer, Jim Ward, Tim Kask, Jennell Jaquays, Steve Winter, and Sandy Petersen). Doug will be DMing. He's not a killer DM at all. But you may lose a few fingers, an eye, a couple toes, etc. Should be fun. The game will be 1E with some house rules mixed in, but still old school all the way.

There will be 2 seats available for attendees. 1 to be auctioned off at RPGMarketplace.com between 04/15/12-05/15/12, the other will be raffled every hour during the game (so four people will get to play this seat). Raffle tickets will be sold up until each drawing, must be in attendance to win. Observers will pay $2.00 to watch the game, those in on the raffle will pay $10.00 per ticket.

You must be an attendee to win this
Drawings will be held during the charity game every hour so 4 players will get to play.
Once a ticket is drawn, it will not be put back in the "hat"

Well, to be fair, #5 happened after the game and so shouldn't be considered as part of the "antics", it was just a fun added bonus. :wink:

Sadly, no; he will not be able to attend as he has a mandatory band camp this summer.

I am a bit bummed as we had a blast last year particularly in Tavis' MA game. Hopefully, next year both kids will be able to make it where we will all play in Badmike's B1.5 Smarmy's Last Laugh

I always thought Smarmy looked like one of those androids from one of the Alien movies. You know....the perfectly pressed pants, immaculate polo shirt, hair neatly combed, and always clean shaven. Unlike most of the other gamers with their unkempt hair, scraggly beards, and clothes that were obviously slept in.

Obviously a robot of some sort. This year we need to cut him and see if milky white gunk comes out. :lol:

P.S. I hope the Paranoia game this year is as fun as it was last year. If I requisition rocket boots again I'm positive it will.

Hey everyone,

I too am getting more excited about Texas now that registration is over. Anyway here is my list.

Thurs- Circus Maximus (green)
Fri- MA Jim Ward / CoC Sandy Petersen
Sat- Boot Hill Frank Mentzer / AD&D Erol Otus
Sun- ACKS King Round

The only two I have ever played before are AD&D and Circus Maximus. It's going to be a lot of fun. I have to admit hen the site froze at 12:01 I started to white knuckle it a bit. But I got every game I wanted, except for the game Smarmy didn't get either.

Looking forward to meeting all of you who are going.

I was one who tried to sign up both my son and myself for Erol's game and didn't realize that things were being added to a cart that still needed to be checked out. When the site went down briefly, all of that stuff was still in our carts and when it came back up, everything I had thought I registered for was gone. My son ended up in Erol's game but as the seventh person so I asked Doug to boot him. He also ended up in Frank's Friday night Devils of Chell game without me and Doug removed him from that as well. Kudos to Doug for being there in the chat and moving people into and out of games on demand!

At that point, I had to redo our schedules. My son will be almost 14 at convention time but really wanted us both in all the same games. Even with my mistake of not clicking "checkout", and the fact that I was hoping we'd get into Erol's game, we still ended up with a great schedule because of the fantastic lineup that Doug and Mike have assembled. We have Mythrus Tower with Matt Finch on Thursday night, DCC RPG - Emirikol Must Die! with Michael Curtis on Friday morning, OD&D - The Phoenix Tower with Tim Kask on Friday night, Metamorphosis Alpha with Jim Ward on Saturday morning, AD&D 1e - Blueberry Cockle Rocks with Frank Mentzer on Saturday night and Dragon Lairds boardgame with Jim Ward on Sunday morning.

When we failed to make it into Erol's game, I next went to look at your B1 game, Mike. Of course it was overfull by that point. Maybe next year...

Sorry for the registration issues that night, I should have noticed the server needed to be bumped from 1CPU to 4 and 1GB to 2GB just in case... and I had made a mental note that I wanted to disable the cart option and forgot (I like it for Con registration so you can reg for the Con, buy multiple Vendor shelves and pay once...) ... but for games, it really sucked.

Also glad everyone was able to find games they wanted to play even if the first choice wasn't available.

So much work to do between now and then... back to busy
