I can't recall an open set selling for under $100.  At $75-$100 this would be on my buy list to resell.
$125 for a shrink copy is a good price too.  Looks like T&T made a mistake and actually honoured the sale (they are now selling it for $227) - surprising.

Nods...
I was thinking the same thing when I saw the copy you linked to...

FWIW: there is an opened complete (used) set on e-Bay now at $99 and change.

It will likely not remain at that price though.

Isn't it pretty obvious at this point that the seller is reprinting these in some way?  The same seller has been offering them on ebay for over 10 years now.  Hard to believe he has a stash that has contained dozens of mint copies of each adventure.  At this point, how would you even determine a "real" convention copy?  Non-near mint condition?

There are posts here on the Acaeum going back to 2003 talking about the same seller having copies of these books....

BTW, this is one reason why I never pay premiums for tournament modules...most are far, far too easy to copy or reprint, making it impossible to determine if you have an original or not.

I know the seller.  He was quite the horrible gaming/comics store owner back in the day - just nasty to customers.  And he is the original source of these modules, author of some even.  There are three things that make me think he isn't reprinting these, and actually HAS been sitting on stacks of them for years are:

1. Why would he have let a few of them go out of print, if the plan was to reprint them indefinitely.

2. I bought these up sometime last year (I think), and something about the paper quality was crummy enough that it really seemed like someone would have to go to quite an effort to print on paper stock that poor these days.

3. Experience with his utter lack of business acumen.  He's not clever enough to use a fake out (explaining #1) and source/stockpile bad paper (explaining #2).  Look at the other stuff he tries to sell.  The same cycle of items at cover price that no one will ever buy.

The A&E #9 and #11 are either reprints or have been rebound with a black pastic spiral. I will check my copies but the easiest way to tell is if the pages are all the same color. The originals have various types of paper, color, and various types of font and printing methods so that the zine is multicolored. The originals were stapled together (though I ouldn't be surprised to see original copies rebound).

Local pickup only (which makes the will ship to USA and Canada subtitle confusing). I think the guy is trying to avoid the fee charged for shipping costs.

Description stated USA and Canada shipping rates. But he didn't want to ship overseas.

And yet it still works out that he avoids the fee ebay charges for shipping.

Hmm interesting. Ebay doesn't charge fees on the whole payment? Because, if the seller adds the shipping cost in the ebay invoice for the paypal payment, the shipping cost is included in the total, isn't it?
