I'm not sure about this, either, but have some vague and distant memory of it popping up for discussion once many years ago when a similar-looking "deep box" OCE came up for sale on ebay. There is a Holmes Basic that is also "deeper" than the usual Holmes Basic box set, maybe a UK version. I have one of those, and the difference is not immediately obvious when seen alone in an auction photo, but once you see it for yourself next to a "normal" set it is clearly different.

Yep. Useful for carting around one's gaming stash.

There are still a few OCE anomalies requiring checking should they reappear but I don't recall that particular one, off-hand. Anyone else?

I asked the seller about the OCE, and he said it measured "just over 1 1/2 inches" deep, so no, not a "deep box" set.

The opening bid doesn't sound quite so bad in the context of the above, for anyone who doesn't mind frankensteining a set with a dished/defective top and/or missing ref sheets. The spare set of books should fetch a decent amount by themselves (not just at NKG).

Second Print woodie.
Box has a few issues with the damaged stickers, water damage to box bottom, several stains on box top, all three books have highlighting (two different colors even).
Price seems a bit optomistic for the condition of books and box.
At least the errata sheet and reference sheets are present.

SWed Basic Holmes Box Set.
It looks like new in the many pictures provided.
I think this is the same copy that has been relisted since first reported in a previous post in this thread.
Was listed with a high reserve then; now starting at $149.00, with no reserve.
Personally if I were smarmy like (or any number of our other SW fan friends) and SW did it for me, this one would already be bid on.

Actually, I just did bid on it, though I will not likely win as I think someone else will hit it later on, but if I do win this one I will be pleased.
I do not think the starting price is out of line at all, even if this one never sat in EGGs garage.... or storage building... or whatever.

I won this set from Amanda, I think the price was reasonable (at least to my limited knowledge of the pricing for this product), just curious whether I got an ok deal on it...the box and books seem to be in real nice shape...

I would normally say that you got that for a good price Jorge, but per the photo, it looks like it only contains just the three rule books and the box. If that is the case it is missing a bunch of loose reference sheets. Cant recall just how many there are off the top of my head though.

That's a good point, hadn't thought about the ref. sheets...I think that I am sitting on some loose reference sheets for this somewhere...need to look for them...hopefully I do, and can complete the set.
